Getting Crafty

I've been getting crafty here.  Maybe it's all the Fixer Upper and Property Brothers the kids and I have been watching.  Living in a rental, there is only so much we can do, but painting picture frames and decorating around the house, I can definitely do.  It's been fun, and I have a few big ones left to go. Here's the finished products of what I've been working on for the past couple of days. The kids have also been working around here too, but for Valentine's day.   And I've been working on my corner to corner blanket any chance I get.

Watercolor Wednesday

We used to do this in the past where every Wednesday Ben and I would paint with watercolors.  We haven't done it in so long.  Not since Sydney was Rylie's age.  We started it again today and Sydney got to experience painting with watercolors for the first time.

A rainy day in our life

Over the past couple of nights, Shawn and I have been packing the kids up in the stroller and going on a walk.  Last night, we took the dog too and put in a little over three miles, jogging some of the way.  I was so proud of how much I was actually able to jog.  I can't wait to get out there and do it again and hopefully jog even more.  I feel so good today and full of energy. We got up this morning and picked up the mess that I was too lazy and tired to pick up last night.  I have a wonderful husband though, that had done the dishes for me last night.  All I had to do with them was to put them away.  Ben put his toys and all the shoes away, then sat down and read to himself.  I love that he loves books so much and he looked so cute curled up with his book.  We did the craft I'd planned on doing yesterday, but was to tired.  It was O is for octopus. He was a coloring fool today too. ...

Watercolor Wednesday

Today was Watercolor Wednesday.  Since we were super busy today, we had to do it this evening.  I painted this time too.  I don't think I've used watercolors in years.  Ben loves Wednesdays and Fridays because he loves to paint so much.  Not long after that picture was taken, we had a little oopsie where Ben accidentally knocked over the cup of water.  No biggie, it was just water, but what happens to a water color painting when water is poured on it?  It becomes a wet, plain sheet of paper.  The paint disappears.  Ben had to start over.  I felt so bad for him, but he didn't seem to mind.  He was just worried he was going to be in trouble or have to stop painting.  I let him start over as soon as the water was cleaned up. This was the finished product: And here's both of our paintings:

Watercolor Wednesday

I was a little scared to do watercolors today and the thought crossed my mind to either take it outside or to the garage.  We have no kitchen table right now since it's covered in boxes while we finish the work on the cabinets.  I sucked it up and we did the watercolors on the floor in the living room on our cardboard that we used for the other crafts today and thankfully, we had no mess.

Bubbles, Finger Paints, and Many Meltdowns.

Today was a rough day with a few perks.  I spent the early afternoon having a major meltdown about laundry, dishes, and moving.  There just wasn't enough time in the day for me to meet my 5:00 deadline.  Shawn eventually talked me down and told me that the kids were my priority so the things I wanted to do with Ben, while Sydney slept, were what I should be doing.  I was so stressed because I'm at home while Shawn's at work and I should be making sure that everything is done so he doesn't have to do any of it.  Maybe that's old fashioned of me, but I feel like it's what is fair even though I'm also with the kids.  Normally, it's not an issue, but with the move and a 5:00 deadline, it was all too much for me. Ben and I decided to go outside on the deck to blow bubbles.  After blowing bubbles we were going to finger paint for Finger Paint Friday.  I thought that the weather was so beautiful we might as well do it outside on the deck.  Ben lov...

Foam letters and finger paints

As I mentioned before, I've been making the alphabet out of craft foam for Ben as we go along with each letter of the week.  This week we've been working on the letter G with the exception of our little time out for St. Patrick's day crafts.  He likes to play with the letters and eventually after he really learns what the letters sound like and whatnot, we might be able to spell out small words with them as well.  Here's what we have so far: (They are not the neatest, but they were the best I could do...) As I mentioned yesterday, Ben really loves the letters and asked me yesterday to do shapes for him as well.  I made these for him and maybe as we learn more, I'll make him more. Last night, at Michaels, we bought finger paints.  Ben had so much fun with watercolors that I was excited for him to try the finger paints.  We tried them today for the first time.  It didn't turn out to be as messy as I was thinking or ...
