I'm still here

I feel like everything gets in the way of my blog time.  I need to just get a new lap top and make the time for it.  My husband's computer seems to be the only option I've had lately.  I have a desktop in the bedroom but it's not easy to escape there with my children.  Also, I've been so busy that I feel I've hardly been at home for the past week or more.   The end of December and January are full of important days that keep us running to Kansas City and back.  Also, with the baby coming in a little over 3 weeks, there are plenty of doctor's appointments to attend.  I feel like I'm so exhausted and have no time to sleep.  Even now, as I type this, I should be sleeping.  It's 1:30 in the morning here and I'm so sore I cannot get comfortable to sit down, lay down, or sleep.   I'm pretty much the size of a planet... The worst part about this picture, is that it was taken a couple of weeks ago, so I'm even bigger now.  I don't walk,...

Lots of Exciting Changes

We are going through a lot of changes as a family right now.  If you haven't been living under a rock somewhere, you know by now that I'm obviously pregnant.  The baby will be here on Valentine's Day unless she decides to come early (lets hope not), so that's 2 1/2 months away. We are in the middle of the crazy holiday season. I'm excited for Christmas, but I think most people are, especially when you have young kids who are just starting to get it.  Ben is so excited for all things Christmas and both of the kids won't leave our Christmas tree alone. If you can't find the kids, they can usually be found laying underneath the tree.  This is our first year doing a fake tree.  Usually we go to a Christmas tree farm and pick one out, but because last year, Ben had some allergic reactions to our tree, we decided it would be better to go fake from now on.  At first I was sad to not get a real tree, but now I'm really great with the fake one.  Ok, maybe...

I'm back! I'm back!

Woohoo!  My husband fixed my computer this weekend so now I get to be back! Now, I'm so overwhelmed, I don't even know where to begin.  This is a crazy house and there is always a million things going on, so I guess, I'll just dig in with the biggest and most life changing. On my last big update post (that you can find  here ) I mentioned a strange reaction to the heat I seemed to be having.  If you follow me on Facebook, then you already know this, but as it turns out, I'm not experiencing a strange reaction other than PREGNANCY!!!!  We were so super nervous when we first found out since Sydney is now only 18 months old, but now we are so excited.  I was still nursing Sydney regularly and I was on the progesterone only pill so I didn't have a real period.  Because of this, the nausea was just passed off as heat related, especially since during the afternoon it was in the 80s in our house with the air on.  A couple of people made comments that...

A Quick Note to New Moms or Soon-To-Be Moms

My best friend Lauren posted this great note to her facebook about breastfeeding.  A lot of new moms try and have a hard time and then feel bad about themselves or like failures.  Know that this is common, you are not alone, and there is help for you out there. Here's her post: As a new mom there are lots of things people dont tell us, one of those is that to breastfeed it takes alot of effort and patience on both ends.   It is not something that just happens naturally. Each of you have you will have different experiences, so hopefully mine will help you.  Learning to feed Cullen was not easy.  He had to be born early due to complications with the pregnancy and therefore spent a few days in the NICU.  When he first popped out I tried to feed him , which you can absolutely request happen before weighing, bathing, shots etc.  He didnt take, which is absolutely ok.  Infact I didnt think he would, we were both drugged out of our minds from ma...

Last pregnancy pictures and birth

Tuesday morning, Sydney was born by a c-section at 8:27 am.  She was 7 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long.  I took the last pregnancy update pictures the weekend before. Here I was at 39 weeks: Tuesday morning, we went into the hospital to get prepped for the c-section at 6:00.  I was so nervous.  Here's Shawn and I, right before the walk to the OR. Didn't Shawn look cute in his scrubs? When I went into the operating room, they started the spinal, but had problems getting the flow they wanted which may have been the cause of the pain during the closing and putting the uterus back in... sorry if that is TMI.  It was all worth it though, because this is what we got. Our first picture with her didn't turn out too well because I was in so much pain.  We decided we'd have to wait until later.  Here's the picture we got... After we got out ...

Friday of a busy, busy week

This week should have been relaxing seeing as I've been on bed rest.  Guess what!  It wasn't relaxing at all.  Tuesday, I had my doctor's appointment and Shawn had his.  He'd been seeing a doctor for his numerous health problems and the doctor had been pushing him off and treating him like he's a hypochondriac.  He decided to see a new doctor because there was really something wrong and he wasn't getting the help he needed or was paying for.  He went to his first appointment with the new doctor on Tuesday afternoon.  The doctor immediately set him up for a colonoscopy and endoscopy for Thursday.  Wedenesday, Shawn started his fast.  I made him jello because he could only have clear liquids and jello.  Ben decided he wanted jello.  Shawn gave him a bite, and Ben gagged but apparently liked it because after he finally got it swallowed he wanted another bite.  The 2nd bite also made him gag and then he spit the jello out on the ...

Another good weekend and strange dreams

Since we've had car trouble, it wasn't really possible for us to go anywhere big this weekend.  We couldn't even really go to Kansas City for my nephew's birthday party.  On Saturday, we did run a few errands.  We went to the library as we promised Ben.  He was so excited and before we knew it, Shawn and I had our hands full of books we'd picked out for him or he had picked out himself.  I'm sure nobody likes books like Ben does. Right now we are waiting on lab work to come back on Shawn.  He's being tested for Celiac Disease so on Saturday we also made a trip to the Merc for some good gluten free products.  I love the Merc.  So much good stuff, and it always smells so good there.  I also got my Christmas cards mailed out, with the exception of one that got left behind in the shuffle.  I'm hoping to get that one out today.  Saturday night, we watched Up as a family.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommen...
