Farmer's Market and the rest of our Saturday

The weather here has been wonderful.  Today,  we decided to enjoy it as a family.  I say this, like it's something new, but we have really been working on spending time together and being outside as much as possible.  We got up this morning, and went to the Farmer's Market.  They had lots of herbs that I wanted to plant.  We don't have a place for them picked out just yet, so I have to wait another week or two.  I can't wait though.  We bought a few things including a small package of emu summer sausage.  It sounds a little odd, but the lady said it's really lean.  When we try it, I'll let you know what I think.  After the Farmer's Market, we went to get coffee and saw that there was a parade.  I'd totally forgotten that Earth Day was being celebrated today and that's what the parade was about.  I thought it was really cute.

We came home from the parade and ate, then went to the park.  We took a couple of balls this time so Ben could play ball as well as on the toys.  It was so much fun.

In the past, we've spent a lot of weekends in Kansas City.  It's nice because the kids get to spend time with their Grandparents, but then comes the question, are we robbing our children of experiences here, where they live?  I think that in the future, we will continue to go to Kansas City, but we will need to make sure that adequate time is spent here as well.  Family can always come out to visit us too.

Terry also came out and helped with more moving this evening.  The kitchen, while still a work in progress is really turning out nicely.  I'm getting a lot done in there.  Here is a couple of pictures of the kitchen and then the laundry room/pantry area:

And for the heck of it, just because it's so cute, here's a picture of Ben and Sydney after they'd both gotten diaper changes:

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. On the menu for ...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
