Grilled Pork and Plum Kebabs

The 19th recipe I did for 52 recipes in 2017 is Grilled Pork and Plum Kebabs.

I know, I'm super behind on my 52 recipes, but I think I'll get caught up soon.

We bought a huge carton of plums from Costco, and we needed to use them up, since I'm the only one who really eats them. I decided to search Pinterest for ideas, but most of what I found was desserts or jam. After a little harder search I found lots of pork and plum recipes. On nice summer evenings, we love the grill so the kebabs was perfect.

I found the recipe here.

Grilled Pork and Plum Kebabs
  • 1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or crushed
  • 1 thumb sized knob ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 pork tenderloin, cubed
  • 8 black or purple plums, halved and pitted
  • 1 onion, quartered and divided into slices

Whisk first 8 ingredients together for the marinade, and pour into a zip lock bag.
Add pork and plums. Seal and put in fridge for at least an hour, or overnight.
Heat grill to high.
Divided between 8 soaked wooden skewers, or metal ones, thread pork, plums, and onion.
Lightly oil grill. Grill, covered, about 6 minutes, turning often, until pork is no longer pink inside.
Serve with Asian Plum Sauce for dipping.
Notes
*If using wooden skewers, soak skewers for an hour in water before using, to prevent burning.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. On the menu for ...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
