Lagging Behind And Our Craziness!

We have been so busy as we fall into our new routine for the summer.  We are filling our days with work around the house, cooking, crafts, exercise, and trips to the park.  Our evenings are filled with more trips to the park, more exercise, more house work, more cooking, Shawn's D&D, and Shawn's basketball.  Our weekends are full of yard work, grocery shopping, Shawn's D&D, trips to Shawn's parent's house, and playing outside where ever and when ever we can.

Shawn and I are really trying to get into shape and have been continuing our walking and attempt walks at least 3 days a week as the weather permits.

Saturday, June 12th was the 2 year anniversary of my Dad's death.  I tried hard to not let the day be any different for me than any other day.  Him and I were pretty close.  As close friends as a father and daughter could be.  While we had a tendency to butt heads (extremely similar personalities), I could talk to him like I couldn't talk to anyone else.

I miss him everyday.  I find watching tv , listening to the radio, and any family functions hard, because I'm constantly reminded of him.  I thought that Saturday would be the same, but when I woke up, I found that it was even harder.  I didn't want to get out of bed.  Shawn had planned a fishing trip with friends that day.  It was a really good time and a way to be outside, which is something Dad also enjoyed.

We had a good time fishing.  Ben hadn't been fishing since he was a very little baby.  Here's a picture from one of the last times we went fishing:

This time, was much different.  Ben was running all over the place and he even got to help Shawn fish.  He caught his very first fish.

Our friend Torren bought water guns for him and Ben to play with and they were a blast.

Our friend, Buck, found a turtle, and we learned that Ben doesn't really like animals outside of dogs and cats. He's really pretty scared of them.

The best part of it all though, was the ability to spend time together as a family.  I love every second we get to spend together and I'm sure Shawn and the kids enjoy it too.

We really do have the best friends also.  A lot of them are like our family as well.

We've been going to different parks around town.  It's been so much fun and we've found that there are a lot of really neat parks.

Here's a few pictures from the past week of parks.

(There are more pictures of Ben than there are of Sydney, but that's only because Sydney isn't doing anything interesting at the parks.  Only sitting in her car seat in the stroller or being carried around.)

I'll update later the crafts we've done so far this week, but for now, I need to go work on dinner and folding some laundry.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
