Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather:::
We had the most gorgeous weather this weekend. I think on Sunday we nearly were up to 70 degrees. Today the high is in the high 50s.

On my bedside table:::
My book
Small flower vase with fake flowers
Remotes
Tissues

On my reading pile:::
Last night I finished Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, which is an absolute must read! I laughed and cried. Then, I started reading King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard, which is the 3rd book in the Red Queen series that my sister-in-law got me hooked on and I've had to wait for a year for the book's release.

On my TV:::
I need to watch last week's Grey's Anatomy and last night I started Santa Clarita Diet, which is funny. I love Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant is so good looking.

On the menu for this week:::
I need to get the meal plan and grocery list for the week done. We didn't do one last week, since I was sick, and the whole week was a mess with lots of take away.

Monday -  Chicken cheese bake
Tuesday -  Rylie's birthday and she requested Shawn's Pancakes and Bacon
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday -
Saturday - Chuck E Cheese for Rylie's birthday
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Monday - Wash the bed linens, Syd and Rylie's dance class, Ben's art class, help Ben finish Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and start his book report and project, decorate for Rylie's birthday, bake cupcakes for Rylie's class.
Tuesday - Rylie's birthday, Ben, Sydney, and Rylie's class Valentine's parties, bake Rylie's birthday cake, family over for dinner
Wednesday - Housework, Ben's art class
Thursday - Housework
Friday - Kid's are out of school
Saturday - Rylie's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese
Sunday - Help Ben finish his book project since it's due the next day.

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Working on a crochet virus stitch blanket although I may have to run back out to yarn barn sooner rather than later as this blanket goes through the yarn quite quickly.

Looking forward to:::
Rylie's birthday festivities.  Kid's birthdays are so fun. Rylie already has this contagious energy and when she's excited about something you can't help but get excited too.

Looking around the house:::
The house is nice and tidy, except for the doll house, car, and Barbies Scottie brought into the upstairs living room to play with, and the breakfast dishes in the sink. Ben and Sydney are already at school. Rylie is wrapped in a blanket on the big arm chair and both girls are watching Mickey Mouse Club House on the TV.

From the camera:::

Something fun to share:::
I can't think of anything off of the top of my head.

What I'm wearing today:::
Currently I'm in my Ft. Jackson Basic Combat Training t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants but I plan on jumping in the shower in a couple of minutes. When I get out, I'll probably put on some jeggings and maybe a button up the front shirt or something.

One of my simple pleasures:::

Family walks. I love going out and taking walks with Shawn and the kids when the weather outside is beautiful. I enjoy the family time and the fresh air.

Bible verse, Devotional:::

Chuck E Cheese! That's brings back a lot of great memories. My daughter and our Girl Scout troop wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese for every special event. Loved those days!

Happy Birthday to your daughter! I always loved planning the parties when my boys were little. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Temperatures in the 70s sound wonderful. Family walks are such a lovely way to create memories that both children and parents can remember and enjoy. Hope you have a great week!

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

   As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. Lemon Puddle Pudding

Ok, so I've been meaning to post this for a while now.  On my search for a quick and easy lemon bar recipe I came across this and decided to give it a try.  Boy am I glad I did.  I got it from the book 200 Delicious Desserts by Sara Lewis. Lemon Puddle Pudding 1/3 cup unsalted butter, room temp 2/3 cup sugar zest and juice of 2 lemons 3 eggs, separated 1/2 cup self-rising flour 1 1/3 cup milk confectioners' sugar, for dusting Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 5 cup pie dish lightly and then set in a roasting pan. Put the butter, sugar, and lemon zest in a mixing bowl.  Beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until they are softly peaking. Beat the butter, sugar, and lemon zest until light and fluffy, then mix in the flour and egg yolks. Mix in the milk and lemon juice gradually until only just mixed.  Fold in the egg whites, then pour the mix into the greased dish.  Pour hot water from the tap into the roasting pan to come half...
