Not a Productive Day

So, I'm not going to get into details, but last night was a rough night here in my family and it has bothered me all day as well.  I've spent a good chunk of the day depressed and to top it off, the kids haven't slept in three nights.  Shawn has been going in with the big kids to try and allow me to get some sleep, but no luck...  I spent all morning just laying around and watching movies with the kids.

Harley Quinn has been quite snuggly too!  I think animals can sense when you need snuggles on bad days.

I did manage to make a cake, since that's all I wanted to eat for lunch.  Hahaha!  I made Crazy Chocolate Cake and it turned out amazing.

I have a messy family of 5 and Sydney often goes through two or three outfits a day, so we do a lot, and I mean A LOT of laundry.  Shawn and I make our own laundry detergent though to cut down on cost and help with Ben who is allergic to Era and has on occasion had reactions to Tide. Today, was my day to make some more detergent.

I've made the liquid detergent once before, but it takes too much time and I'm happy just using a powder.  I use one bar of soap, and since Ben has such sensitive skin, I use the Dove soap that we all bathe with.  I grate the soap and then add one cup of Borax, and one cup of Washing Soda.  I use about 1-2 tablespoons per load.

I did a couple loads of laundry and a load of dishes in the dish washer.  Shawn brought home a couple of much needed groceries.  Thank goodness, because he had our money and I was out of chocolate milk which left me sans espresso today.  I need my mocha to get me moving and with no sleep, I really really really needed it.

Shawn is at basketball right now, and I fed the kids a quick and easy late dinner of burritos. There is something delicious about a quick and easy burrito.  Just ground beef (I use a can of rotel, salt, and garlic powder to season taco mea
t), cheese, sour cream, salsa and lettuce.  It takes no time and is quite tasty.

Now the big kids and I are cuddling with Harley on the couch.  We're watching Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on the DVR.  I can't get over how disgusting they are, but they are funny.  Rylie is sleeping in her playpen in the living room and we're just waiting on Shawn to get home.  We forgot to pick up the kid's allergy medicine, so he's grabbing some on his way home.  Ben has the worst seasonal allergies, all year long really.  I can understand because I'm the same way.  Sydney had a reaction where she was legit breaking out in hives as an allergic reaction to a virus she had so the doctor put her on Zyrtec.  It did wonders for her runny nose and night time coughs, so we've just kept her on it as well.  Hopefully he gets home with their medicine soon so we can all get some sleep.

Alright, maybe I'll be back tomorrow with a post about our vacation.

We all have our rough days, believe me! When I have a really bad day, I say to myself, well tomorrow has GOT to be better than this, and it usually is. Been having some challenges here with my two of my children (the boys - and mostly just with one of them) for the past month that have been getting me down. Some days I struggle with shaking off the blues, so we all go through it. Animals can sense our moods and really be there for us. I agree that the Honey Boo Boo show is silly in a "this is so stupid its funny" kind of way. Makes me laugh too! (For a pick-me-up I sometimes watch Judge Judy because I always think there is no way I'm as bad/stupid/foolish as those people ;-) Have a good Friday!

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. Blogmas 2014 - Day 13 How Are You Counting Down To Christmas

Ok, honestly....  I'm not.  I have this gorgeous advent calendar that is 3 building with little numbered doors all over them.  I haven't gotten it out for lack of space and really small children.  Maybe next year.  Also, Ben has been all over the lego ones and stuff so I figure, I'll pick up some next year or as I see them now this year, so each kid can have their own next year.  I don't know maybe I'll just make them if I'm feeling crafty and find the time.  It actually hit us all at once on Saturday that Christmas was less than 2 weeks away.
