Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday!  Hope today is finding you well.  Ben's at school, and Shawn is off of work today but is doing Watch Dogs at Ben's school.  Basically he's volunteering there.  I love that he's so involved also.

The weather outside is::::
We had a warm yet rainy weekend, and now it's back to cold again.  It should be a little warmer this week than last though.

On the breakfast plate this morning::::
Right now, just a Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso.  I think I'll be adding a donut in a moment though.

As I look outside my window:::
It's somewhat cloudy today, and the wind is really blowing.  Today is a cold fall day.

Right now I am::::
Sitting at the table, typing this and drinking my espresso and cream.

As I look around the house::::
The house is near spotless.  Shawn and I were cleaning last night.  I folded and put away laundry while he steam mopped the kitchen.  We've been really working well as a team lately.  We always do, but the past couple of weeks have been perfect.

Rylie is still upstairs sleeping but she was up so late last night.  Sydney is sitting right next to me watching Winx Club on her iPad and trying to get Scotland to watch with her from her highchair.

On today's to do list::::
Laundry.....I have a load in the dryer to fold and put away, then I'm washing the kids bedding today.
Cleaning.....Just keeping up on the usual picking up.
Wrestling.... Ben has his first wrestling practice tonight but I think Shawn is taking him.
Sorting clothes.... I'm late getting this done, but the kids dressers need to be sorted and all of their summer clothes are getting packed away.  I did Scottie's last night.
Baking.... A second attempt at a loaf of sour dough bread. The loaf last night, didn't rise...

Currently reading::::
Game of Thrones by George R R Martin
I'm also reading Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary to the kids.

On the TV today::::
-- Sons of Anarchy (I have last weeks episode to watch still)
-- American Horror Story (I'm a few episodes behind)
-- Grey's Anatomy (I have about 3 episodes to catch up on)
-- Gracepoint (Last weeks episode)
If I have time today or this week I'll watch some of these on Netflix
-- Hart of Dixie
-- The Carrie Diaries
-- Gilmore Girls

On the menu this week::::

Monday
Spaghetti with meat sauce

Tuesday
Pancakes, bacon, and eggs

Wednesday
Probably fast food since we'll be preparing for Thanksgiving

Thursday
Thanksgiving Dinner

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

What I am creating at the moment::::
I need to finish Rylie's scarf.  I just have barely sat still long enough to crochet.  I may have time to actually paint this week, and I may finally finish my end table, table cloth.

New recipe I tried or want to try this week::::
I've been so lost in my own little world that I haven't been looking but I did pick up a Downton Abbey book called A Year In The Life at Downton Abbey that has some delicious looking recipes in it as well.

Favorite photo from the camera::::
Working on our sour dough bread starter.  We've made it a family science project.  Next up is Greek Yogurt.

Hi Liz! I should follow you and sort clothes in my daughter's wardrobe, of course she is taller than last Summer! Hope you have a nice week :)

I have never had luck with my sourdough starter. Not really sure what the deal is.

I have been looking into getting a steam mop. Especially with winter coming up.

Hi Liz,
Sounds like a great week! I haven't been in any of the blogs I follow for a few weeks now - everything just seems so jammed up lately that keeping up with what I have to do gets in the way!- Lol
I did just get back from a conference in Nashville, which was interesting, but a long time away from my family for me. My favorite memory will be having gone to the Ryman Theater and seeing the Grand Ole Opry performers.
I have a steam mop and love what it can do to the kitchen floor. Sorting the kids clothes is something I always spent so much time doing too - and then suddenly they just do it themselves or at least just keep everything together in their drawers, it is strange the little things that start to slip away as they get older.
I hope you and your family enjoy Thanksgiving - our school days off start tomorrow so it will be a nice long weekend. My two girls are both working at their respective stores in two different malls in our area, so that will mean not seeing much of them on Friday, but I'm thinking of making some turkey pies that day for some relatives so we will see how it goes :)

Take care,
and God Bless!
Mindy

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
