Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather outside is::::
It's so very cold.  On the school run this morning it was about 18 degrees and the drive was was mostly a sheet of ice.  I can't lie though.  I'm not thrilled about the super warm temperatures this coming up weekend because then when it's cold again, we'll have to readjust...

On the breakfast plate this morning::::
Naked blue machine, a coffee, and some blueberry oatmeal with banana.

As I look outside my window:::
It's sort of a gloomy day, and everything is just brown...

Right now I am::::
Sitting at the kitchen table with the girls, typing this up and eating breakfast.

As I look around the house::::
The house is completely clean and I've already done the minor things this morning that needed to be done. The girls have their tea party and kitchen toys out in their playroom.  They took a break from playing to eat real brekky. I have a turkey breast tenderloin running under cold water in the kitchen sink as I type to thaw enough to put into the crockpot for dinner.

On today's to do list::::
Laundry....I have a small towel load in the washer that I'll have to dry, fold, and put away, as soon as it's done, and then tonight after dinner, I'll have the clothing from today to wash, dry, and put away but that's it.
Cleaning....
In the kitchen....Keeping up on dishes and cooking dinner.
In the living room....minor pick up as the day goes on.
In the bathroom....I need to sweep and and steam mop the upstairs bathroom since I didn't do that last night.
Extra curriculars.....Sydney has dance tonight and Ben has wrestling

Currently reading::::
Game of Thrones.

On the TV today::::
I'm not really sure.  I think Peppa pig will be on at some point and maybe sometime tonight we'll play Super Smash Bros as a family.  I'll watch some vlogs too at some point, I'm sure.

On the menu this week::::
Monday - Honey mustard turkey breast tenderloin, veggies
Tuesday - Spring chicken with veggies
Wednesday - apple bourbon pork tenderloin
Thursday - Asparagus and goat cheese pasta
Friday - Pancakes, eggs, and bacon
Saturday -
Sunday -

What I am creating at the moment::::
I'm currently doing a granny square bunting for my room and I want to come up with something for my mantle over my fire place.

New recipe I tried or want to try this week::::
Nigella Lawson's spring chicken recipe.  I'm going to try it this week as well as a delicious looking goat cheese pasta dish. I do love goat cheese.

Favorite photo from the camera::::
Took the kids to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum yesterday to see the Plains Indians display.  It was truly amazing, and while the kids got a little wild by the end of the trip, they even thoroughly enjoyed it.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
