Books, Books, and More Books

Every year, Shawn and I go out for our anniversary. During dinner we discuss our personal and family goals for the next year. Last year it's where we said we'd like to buy our family home by our anniversary the next year. Six months and one day later we were moving in to our home. I also said I'd like to complete a crochet project, from start to finish, and that goal, I didn't achieve.  See, little goals and big goals.

This year, one of my personal goals was to read two books a month. This is a big goal with all of my time wrapped up into housework, the kids, blogging, and vlogging. I'll have you know, upkeep on my blog was another goal this year. I just really like reading, and feel that if I'm reading, and Shawn's reading (He reads a lot, but very late at night usually and I have to get up early in the morning, so I can't do the late nights he does.) then we are setting a better example for the kids.

So far, it's March 24th and since I made the goal at our date night, which was in late-ish January, I've been doing pretty good.

I think, what I'm going to do here on my blog is, every time I finish a book, type up a little something about it. I'm no critic, and I am a typically slow reader, so things won't necessarily be great or in depth, but I do think it's a good idea and way for me to keep track. I will say, there will be some spoilers in these posts, but how can I talk about a book I read without giving away a little bit?

I just started my 6th book of the year. I know some people who read that in a month. I'm not saying my life is any more busy than anyone else's, but I am saying that, as much as I love reading, it doesn't come as high in my priorities for the day as I'd like, and as I said a moment ago, I'm super slow.

Alright, I'm off to get started.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. On the menu for ...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
