Father's Day weekend

Hope all the Dads out there had a great Father's Day. Ben and I enjoyed time with Shawn and family.
Saturday we went to the company picnic for a little bit but it was raining pretty good and they were taking down the tables and whatnot so we left quickly. We decided to go to Topeka to take a card to my Dad. For those of you who don't know, he died last year and part of his ashes are in a wall in a cemetery in Topeka. We also picked up a card for Grandpa and dropped it by his house. When we got there, my aunt, uncle and two cousins were there. We all went out to dinner and to the cemetery and just talked. It was so nice to see them. My cousins are growing up so quickly. When I hugged my uncle goodbye, I didn't want to let go. It was just so nice to see them all again. I've really missed them. I missed my Grandpa too and I think we'll need to go by his house more often.

Sunday, Ben and I got up early. We left Shawn at home to sleep in and we went to Walmart for his gift and stuff for breakfast. We came home and I made him french toast, sausage patties, and fresh fruit salad (cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries, and peaches). We all went to his parent's house after a really late brunch and swam, had a wonderful dinner, and all just kind of hung out laughing and having a good time. It was such a wonderful weekend. I hope Shawn enjoyed it all.

So, this morning, I got up to fix some cream of wheat for breakfast and when I came out in the kitchen I noticed something on the floor. I picked it up and went on my way about the day. I did the dishes and got started boiling water for breakfast. I put the water on the stove and noticed another something on the floor. I picked it up with a napkin and realized it smeared. I then realized what it was. I turned around and behind me was a huge pile to clean up behind me. Ben came out into the kitchen with his diaper barely on and he had rubbed it all over his legs. Of course I cleaned up the mess and he got a bath. It was extremely disgusting but as I was gagging and scrubbing to get it off of him, he was laughing hysterically, which made me realize this whole situation was actually kind of funny. Kids can really create some of the worst situations, but also help you get through it with a smile.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
