Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
Cold and gloomy with a chance for rain.

Things that make me happy:
When people tell me how well behaved my kids are and how cute they are.

Book I'm reading:
The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson and As Always, Julia the letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto by Joan Reardon.  What can I say, I'm a slow reader...

What's on my TV today:
Jersey Shore.

On the menu for dinner:
Chilli and corn bread

On my To Do List:
Laundry, pick up the house, grocery shopping, doctor's appointments.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
I have no idea.  I have so many to try.

In the craft basket:
I'm still working on a cute bird pillow softie.  I've been too busy to get into the sewing room.

Looking forward to this week:
My husband and I's 3 year anniversary.

Tips and Tricks:
When your child is being impatient and antsy at the grocery store, go to the floral department and see if they offer free balloons.  The grocery store I go to gives out free balloons to small children if you go ask (I was told this by a cashier) and it keeps the child out of trouble and occupied.

My favorite blog post this week:

It's amazing to me what is possible when people work together.  I wish I would have gotten the chance to donate to the fund.  I may still do it, just to help with any extra fees.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:
I know I'm way late on this, but don't sweat the small stuff.  It could all be so much worse.

On my mind:
My doctor's appointment tomorrow.  I'm so super nervous.

Meagan- I used Dr. Waxman at Providence in KCK. It's the same one Shawn's family uses. She was really nice although a little strange.
Sarah- Thanks and welcome to my blog. Haha!

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: So far today, it is cold and gloomy! Right now I am:::  Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan. Thinking and pondering::: On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.  On my bedside table::: I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should. Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman On my tv tonight::: American Horror Story Some Doctor Who specials Playing on the radio::: I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart. The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie. On the menu for ...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
