Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window:::
So far today, it is cold and gloomy!

Right now I am:::
Sitting on the couch under my crocheted afghan.

Thinking and pondering:::
On Thanksgiving!  What to fix.  I think I'm getting carried away, but I love it.

On my bedside table:::
I haven't been doing much reading lately and I should.
Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson
Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman

On my tv tonight:::
American Horror Story
Some Doctor Who specials

Playing on the radio:::
I don't have anything playing right now, but I'm obsessed with James Blunt's new song, Bonfire Heart.

The video is amazing too.  I love the story behind the video.  The people in it are NOT actors.  The wedding scene towards the end, he actually crashed a wedding and captured the bride and grooms first dance.  Amazing.  And, not only is his voice and music wonderful, he's a total hottie.On the menu for this week:::
I don't believe I'll do much cooking this week, except for Thanksgiving.  We have a really crazy week ahead.

Monday -
Tuesday -
Wednesday -
Thursday -Thanksgiving!!!
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Laundry
Errands

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Currently I'm doing a jar cover.  Lots of little projects to break up the monotony of my granny square blanket.

My simple pleasure:::
Relaxing on the couch by the fireplace watching my morning news.

Lesson learned the past week:::
When you are stressed out and near your breaking point, hang in there. Things will get better. And then you'll find something else to be stressed about.

Looking around the house:::
Sydney and Rylie are watching the iPads.  Maya is laying on the floor snoring loudly.  I have some dishes in the sink calling to me, and plenty of laundry to catch up on.  Harley is laying next to me, keeping my leg and couch warm.

From the camera:::

On my prayer list:::
My son.  He has a minor surgery tomorrow but as I'm sure any parent can agree, it's always traumatic for us when our babies are put under anesthesia.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. ~Psalm 106:1

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
