Attempting to be a Super Mom

Last week was the kid's Spring Break. I had bought a couple of little plant seed kits from the dollar section at Target for something fun to do with the kids. We planted all of the seeds Thursday afternoon and last night I noticed a sprout or two. This morning, after looking with the kids, and watching their excitement, I decided, maybe I should track the progress a little. Here they are the evening we planted them: The purple pots are sensitive plants. The green pots are poppies. The light blue pot is a daisy. The dark blue pot is a forget-me-not. The orange pot is a sunflower. The hot pink pot is a coneflower. And the larger tan pots are 2 watermelons, 2 cucumbers, and 2 tomatoes. These past couple days have been so busy.  We've been preparing for Sydney's birthday which is Sunday, I've had stuff to get done for Ben's teacher, and Shawn has been out of town for work, so I've been holding down the fort at home. I've been wanting to work on my crochet mood blanket so bad, but I just haven't had time.  I plan on working on it a little today as I'm so excited how it is coming along. At the end of the week, last week, we made a trip a couple of trips to Michaels.  I'm a Michaels and Hobby Lobby addict.  I need crafters anonymous and to go into those store without a supervisor is extremely dangerous for my bank account.  The yarn that I love from Walmart for almost $5 a skein was 2 for $5, so I picked several new fun colors, and then I grabbed some new things for a new hobby I'm seriously falling in love with.  I'm very into flower arranging.  I'm working with fake flowers for now.  It's so much fun and they are so...

I think Mr. Groundhog was quite confused when he said spring was coming.  I know, putting a lot of faith in an animal and his shadow...  This morning we woke up and I sent the kids downstairs so I could get dressed and we could get our day started.  Ben yelled up the stairs, "Mommy it's going to snow today!"  I looked outside and sure enough, it was snowing, hard. I have to admit though.  While I'm ready for the weather to be nice and warm, the snow is really beautiful. We had some errands to run, and by the time we made it out of the house, the neighborhood was beginning to look like a wintery wonderland. We had to go to the grocery store because I've been putting it off for several days and the kids needed to burn some energy and get their mind off of the kitty.  Morgan texted me, telling me she was taking Langston to Laugh Out Loud so we met them there before the grocery store.  It was insanely packed.  I didn't really think about...

As I sit here typing this at the kitchen table, the kids are in the living room watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates and playing something with babies and bad guys.  Potatoes are boiling on the stove, the rest of dinner is ready to go in the oven, the table is set, and the dishwasher is ready to run after we eat.  I'm exhausted, like most days, and have my class this evening.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going, but this evening, I'm so ready for pajamas and bed. I have not had the best run lately.  I've been suffering from withdrawals from a medication that I stupidly quit taking for a couple of days, only because I was to lazy to drive across town.  That has been no picnic, but today was the first day that I woke up, not feeling like my heart was going to pound out of my chest and like something was crawling underneath my skin.  Yes, not fun!  Moral of the story.  Take your meds as prescribed!  The consequences of being lazy can be...

It's rest time here in the Tiemann house.  I try to do rest time for the kids everyday.  The big kids can nap or just lay in their beds and watch tv or read.  Usually I catch them playing with toys, but as long as they are somewhat quiet I don't say anything.  I love my kids and love spending time with them, but it's nice to get that little break during the day, to blog, nap, paint my nails, or watch a show my kids can't or shouldn't watch.   Today, I'm watching Chicago Fire . My father-in-law got me addicted.  I like crime dramas and medical dramas.  This just so happens to be right in between the two.  So good and really good people in it.  Besides, what lady doesn't like a hot man in fireman gear.  Warning, it is a little gross... I'm also snuggling with my sweet kitty. ...and putting off putting away laundry. I've been admiring this beautiful flower my husband got me for our anniversary. He knows me so well...

Well last week was quite a week!  Thankfully this week is much slower.  I still have so much going on, even when it's slow though.  Between house work and 3 kids and my husband with his schedule and travel, I feel like  I could use a few extra hours in the day or maybe just two more hands.  Haha!  Maybe I could hire a maid just for folding and putting away the laundry.  That's my least favorite job in the house.  It takes forever, it's monotonous, and it's pretty much a never ending job.   Over the last week or week and a half we've done lots of fun stuff, to balance out all the work, I've had to do.   We've done a lot of planting.  I love flowers and who doesn't love growing some of their own produce.  Also, Shawn got some baby dog wood trees from his work so we had to plant those.  The kids were big helpers, especially Ben.
