Superhero Cuff

Ben is obsessed with everything superhero right now.  He's been known to randomly yell "Superhero!" and jump off of furniture or shoot people with his "super tongue."  (The super tongue thing started after watching How to Train your Dragon, so I'm assuming he's shooting fire like the dragons.) Yesterday, I saw this craft on  No Time For Flashcards - Superhero Cuff Craft  and knew that we had to do it. Superhero Craft What you'll need: toilet paper roll sticky back foam stickers scissors 1.  Take your toilet paper roll and cut it up the back.  Round the edges. 2.  Cut shapes out of the foam.   3.  Peel the backing off the foam and put the shapes on the cuff.  We also put Ben's name in stickers.  Ben liked peeling the backing off of the foam. And then put it on and get ready for lots of superhero antics.  Ben wore his all evening. Don't you just love the fake smile he gave me?  He's such a goof ball.

A rant from the mother of a peanut allergic child

It's no secret that my son has a severe peanut allergy, in fact, almost everyone that knows me or my son knows this.  I'm sure that almost every parent can at some point understand what we go through.  Imagine that your child wants some video game or toy that you cannot afford at the time, but all of their friends have this game and they want it so bad.  Still, you have to say no.  The look on their face is so sad and it makes you want to do almost anything to get them that game/toy.  Now, imagine if it was something so small as a candy bar or piece of cake.  Everyone else is eating the birthday cake, but you have to tell your child no, because it may contain peanuts, or has been manufactured on equipment that manufactures peanut products, or because you just don't know.  It's heart breaking.  That's the life of a parent with a peanut allergy. Yesterday, I came across a link on the Today show's facebook that infuriated me. School Parents Want Girl With Peanu

St. Patrick's Day

Last week was St. Patrick's Day, and this was the first time, we've gone to the St. Patrick's Day parade out here.  Last year, Sydney was only 8 days old and I felt like it was to chilly and I would have been too overwhelmed to take a 2 year old and a week old baby down to a busy parade.  This year, the weather was amazing, and Shawn was able to take a little break from work to come with us.  We really had a great time and I'm excited to do more things like that with the family. We all got dressed up in our St. Patrick's Day green.  I just LOVE this picture of my two little sweethearts. Ben is the biggest goof ball! Before the parade, the kids and I walked down to Borders, which is going out of business, and bought a bunch of books.  I do have a slight book addiction and I think I'm passing it on to my kids.  After Borders, we did a quick diaper change in the car and sat down for a nice little snack. After the snack, we met up with Shawn, and watche

Baby Sydney's First Birthday!

I have yet to post about my baby girl's big first birthday.  I'm only a week and a half late. We were so excited, but I don't think anyone was more excited than Ben for her birthday.  He sang happy birthday over and over again to her for about a week ahead of time. I made Sydney a pink and purple cake, and pink and purple cupcakes for everyone else.   We opened presents and she made out like a bandit! Sydney's grandparents and aunts and uncles came over to share in the birthday festivities. Courtney (my sister), Mom, Chris (my brother in law), Cj (my nephew), and Andy (my brother). Andy (my brother), Cj (my nephew), and Shawn Shawn and Big Andy (Shawn's Dad) GG (Shawn's granny, Bernie) Terry and Chris (Shawn's brother). Ben, Sydney, Julie (my mother in law), Courtney (my sister), and Abby (my niece). Then, we ate the cake.  And, in keeping with first birthday traditions, Sydney even wore hers. It was a wonderful birthday.  I'm so ex
