Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods: Cold and icy and it's supposed to snow... Things that make me happy:   Waking up and feeling the urge to be productive.  I just feel amazing when I get up and actually want to get things done around the house. Book I'm reading: The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson What's on my TV today:   Harry's Law is on tonight and I'm super excited.   On the menu for dinner: mini penne with tomato and veggie sauce On my To Do List: Clean the room out to set up the kids bedroom Laundry  New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: Taco Soup   I found this recipe on another blog and it looks amazing! Ben's First Snowman

So, while I've been kind of over the snow, it has had it's upsides too.  Ben got to build his very first snowman and he was so excited.  Yes, he was a tiny snowman (the snow was too powdery), but Ben didn't care.  He'd only been asking to make one for days. Because the snowman was so small, we had to be creative with his face.  We used a stick for his nose, a part of a Dorito for his nose and blue berries for his eyes. We all took pictures with it.... ... and then Ben decided that our snowman wasn't quite done. Right now, Ben is very interested in the differences between girls and boys and decided our snowman needed a "guy."

Snow, snow, go away...

Ok, before I may have said that I like the snow, especially if I don't have to be in it.  Well, I'm over it.  While I still enjoy the snow, I hate that every time I leave the house, I end up with snow in my shoes and the legs of my pants soaked.  I hate that our front side walk is an icy death trap because of the roof issues.  Worst of all, the kids are driving me nuts!  I'm ready for warmer, sunny days, and lots of playing at the park.  At least Ben has been enjoying the snow. I've also neglected to mention that our Homer Simpson Chia Pet now has hair and has for a few days now.  Once those seeds sprouted, they just took off. Ben has never seen an episode of The Simpson's but last night we were at Cici's pizza and it was on one of the big screens.  Ben out of nowhere starts yelling about "my chia pet" and pointing at the TV.  It was too cute  to see the recognition on his face.

The Best Banana Muffins

Yesterday for breakfast I made the best banana muffins I've ever made.  My husband even asked me if they were a mix or homemade because they were so fluffy and not dense like they tend to be. Banana Muffins Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon 4 large bananas, mashed 3/4 cups sugar 1 egg 1/3 cup butter, melted 1 tsp vanilla extract Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray muffin pan with non-stick spray or use paper liners. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon, and set aside. Mix bananas, sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl.  Add the flour mixture and mix until smooth and fluffy. Scoop into the muffin pan. Bake for about 20 minutes and test with a tooth pick. ' This makes 12 muffins.
Three years ago, I married the most amazing man.  It took about 6 years and 1 child to convince him (only kind of kidding), but I think we've been happy and made the right decision. Happy Anniversary Shawn!

We've got grass!!!

A few days ago, I went to water our Chia Pet and our Santa Planter, and Santa had hair! I was so excited, I ran to get Ben because I knew he would be excited too.  Now if we could just get Homer to grow some hair. Today, I had a doctor's appointment, and let me say, I HATE doctors.  They freak me out, but mostly I hate them because I already feel bad enough about myself, I don't need someone lecturing me about my weight or anything else I probably already beat myself up about.  Today, I went to a dermatologist.  I had my first annual skin exam and had two moles removed.  One mole was on my face.  It looks disgusting right now, but I'm so excited for when it heals.  I'll make sure to take a picture as soon as it's done. Tonight, dinner for Shawn's brother Chris's birthday, at the Argosy. I'll be bandaging my nose and grabbing something for Ben to eat (food isn't safe for him) and we'll be having a good time.
