Savory Beef and Noodles

Of course, going through Sandra's food blog , I found another amazing meal.   Savory Beef and Noodles .  I've been meaning to cook it for weeks, but didn't get the opportunity for some reason or other.  So sad we didn't get it done before now.  This was so good that everyone ate it.  Ben and Sydney even both had seconds of it.  That is a winning recipe to me. Savory Beef and Noodles 1 pound ground beef 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed french onion soup, undiluted 1/2 cup beef gravy 1 (4 oz) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained (I chopped mine into small pieces to avoid children picking them out) 1 tbsp all purpose flour 1 tbsp cold water hot cooked noodles (I used egg noodles) Brown the ground beef and drain off the grease.  Stir in the soup, gravy, and mushrooms.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat; cover and let simmer for 5 minutes. In a small bowl, mix together the flour and water until smooth; stir into beef mixture.  Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 min

A Big Week

So, last week was a pretty big week in the Tiemann house.  The week started with Shawn traveling to Chicago on Monday and coming back Tuesday night. Ben wanted a super specific back pack.  Right now he's very into Skylanders Giants and of course they are very popular.  We saw the backpack at Target a while back and almost bought it but Shawn advised me to wait until tax free weekend.  Well we didn't end up shopping on tax free weekend and before we knew it school was getting ready to start.  The problem with wanting a super popular backpack is that it was sold out by the time we were able to go get it.  We talked to Ben and explained that we'd order it from Amazon but that Ben would have to take an old back pack for the first couple of days of school.  He was sad but just happy to eventually get the backpack he wanted.  I gave it one last try and got on to the Walmart and Target websites and found that there was limited stock at the Target right down the street from my mo

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather..... A little warmer this week than the past couple weeks but still incredibly nice for August. Right now I am.... Laying on the couch while the girls eat dry cereal out of plastic baggies.  Ben is at school. Thinking.... I'm exhausted and I don't understand why Rylie won't sleep at night. On my reading pile.... Right now, I'm flying through Eleanor by Kristiana Gregory.  I bought a few of the children's historical fiction books and I'm loving them.  I like the innocence you get when reading a children's chapter book.  It's not all sex and such.  There has to be an actual story line. On my TV..... Right now, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and later I'm hoping to watch Sister Wives and Breaking Amish LA On the menu for this week.... Monday  - Savory Beef and Noodles Tuesday  -  Chicken Tacos Wednesday  - Southern Style Pork Chops Thursday  - Cheesy Chicken Soup and bread Friday  - Hamburger Steaks with Sweet Onion Brown G

Happy Homemaker Monday

I am super late tonight, as it is almost Tuesday now.  I spent most of the morning laying in bed with my kiddos and my afternoon at my in-laws' house, hanging out and enjoying the day and their company. The weather..... It's so gorgeous, I can't believe it's August in Kansas!!! Right now I am.... Sitting in bed watching The Tigger Movie with the kiddos while they should actually be sleeping. Thinking.... That I'm so exhausted and should be going to sleep soon. On my reading pile.... I finally started Catering to Nobody by Diane Mott Davidson.  My mom loaned it to me a long time ago and I'm just now getting to it.  I'm also hoping to get to The End of Manners by Francesca Marciano.  My husband just read it for school and said I would like it, so I'm hoping to get that read soon. On my TV..... Nothing today really, as I've been out of the house most of the day.  Tonight I'm watching The Tigger Movie with the kids again... On the me

Eureka Springs and Table Rock Lake Vacation Part 2

Ok, I'm finally back to finish my vacation post. Where was I?  Oh yes, it was our last day in Eureka Springs and we were watching the storms roll in. We were getting ready to leave Eureka Springs for Table Rock Lake, but before we left we had one more fun thing to do.  We went to take a train ride through the Ozark Mountains.  It was one car pulled by a locomotive. It was really neat because we got to watch the locomotive drive up, switch tracks turn around on this turn table thing and then drive down to switch tracks again and connect to us.  While this was happening, it was storming like crazy.  Pouring rain, thunder, lightening, hail, etc.  We had to put up the windows in the train car and it was so hot.  Until the locomotive got connected to us we had no power for the fans, but it was still fun.  Once the train was connected, off we went.  It took us out for about 15 or 20 minutes. The locomotive disconnected again and drove off to get turned
