The Week Is Flying By

Is it really Thursday already?  This week has just flown by.  Between the ridiculously hot weather and the running from here to there, no wonder it's gone so fast.  I feel like Monday was just here. Oh my goodness have we done so much fun stuff this week. Sunday, after Shawn's parents left, Shawn did the grocery trip for me while Ben, Sydney, and I made M&M cookies.  Maya waited for us to drop crumbs so she could eat them.  She was not so lucky. Monday, Shawn worked from home since he was leaving that afternoon.  This way he could spend a little extra time with the kids and with me.  He even went to Rylie's checkup with us. Rylie is a cute and healthy chunky girl, but while she's a chunk, she's still longer than she is heavy, percentile wise.  When the doctor told us that he was going to send the nurse in, to give Rylie her shots, Sydney went into hysterics.  She did not want her sister to get shots.  She screamed and cried until we left the office

Weekend Fun

Every evening I think, I'm going to do a blog post, and then I get sidetracked doing something else like crocheting, fishing, studying, or making an apron.  I've been so incredibly busy, even after the kids go to bed.  This has really been quite a week and weekend. I had to make multiple runs to the grocery store.  The kids like the organic store because they get to push their own carts. Ben loves pushing the cart like mommy does, but not Sydney.  She likes to run quickly down the aisles, knocking into displays and people the whole way.  Also, I may have a problem... I decided I didn't have enough different sizes of mason jars, so I bought a few more cases.  Putting them to use won't be a problem, but my husband is worried about our banking account as this addiction goes from just using them as cooking utensils, to home decor. Thursday evening was the 5th game in the Heat vs.Thunder series thingy.  I don't know.  I'm not crazy about basketball, but

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

I'm always looking for new recipes and Pinterest has become land of the mouthwatering recipes to me.  I'm always worried though that just because it looks good in the picture, it will be a disappointment.  Especially when it's a time consuming recipe.   Here' s the original recipe.  Trust me, this recipe did not disappoint and tasted even better than it looked.  My husband even said something along the lines of "Are you sure this is dinner because it feels like it should be dessert."  It did taste like bread pudding with blueberry syrup.  Also, I get a little extra satisfaction making something with berries we picked and bread I made, etc. Overnight Blueberry French Toast 12 slices of day-old bread, cut in 1 inch cubes 2 (8 ounce) bricks of cream cheese, cut in 1 inch cubes 1 cup fresh blueberries 12 eggs beaten 2 cups milk 1 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 cup water 1 cup fresh blueberries 1 tbsp butter

Education?

I'm sitting here, somewhat jealous of all the people in school or on summer break.  It's got me interested in working towards a degree.  I've always wanted to do Culinary arts, but with everything else going on right now, I probably need something I can do online.  The other problem is that with a culinary degree, am I getting myself into something that is going to take a tremendous amount of time away from my kids?  My end goal is to own my own restaurant, but I also want to be there for all the little moments with my kids along the way and don't want to miss anything.  I'm thinking about getting a business degree and then maybe getting the culinary part later.  I'm so torn and confused.  Why does being an adult have to be so difficult? I guess I should maybe wait until the spring or so before I start adding more to my plate and for now focus on my We Live to Know, Love, and Serve God online course and then my RCIA classes starting in August.

Just Another Day

Just got word that Shawn's going to be gone three days again next week.  I'm so ready for his traveling to slow down.  I'm absolutely exhausted after today. We got up bright and early but snuggled in bed.  I could lay in bed with my babies all day if I didn't have a million other things to do. We got up and ran a few errands.  We went to the Merc and to get lunch.   After lunch, I spent a little time online before starting on all the house work. While the kids were resting, I got the kitchen completely cleaned and the laundry started.  After the kids got up, I started on Sydney's apron.  She was so excited for her bumble bee apron. I cut out all the pieces and plan on sewing it tomorrow or the next day depending on whether or not we go to Shawn's parent's house tomorrow. Once all the pieces to the apron were cut out, I went (against everyone's advice) to mow the lawn.  It was 97 degrees and I probably shouldn&#
