A cow kind of day

Ben loves cows.  They may be his favorite thing in the world.  Since I couldn't think of anything really to do today, we decided to make today Cow Day. We did a cow craft where the cow jumped over the moon.  I took pictures of most of the steps but my camera's battery was about dead so instead I used my phone camera.  While my phone camera is pretty good, a lot of the pictures came out blurry.  All I can say really is that this craft took a lot of prep time because it was just cutting out pieces for him to glue together.  I am by no means an artist or even anywhere near it, but you can tell it's a cow.  I spent the whole morning drawing and cutting out the pieces to his cow so he could glue them together.  While I did this, Ben played with his blocks on the floor. Here's the pictures of the craft I do have: Ben gluing the spots on the cows body before attaching the head. Gluing the eye on the moon. Holdi

Shawn's birthday

Yesterday was Shawn's birthday and he turned the big 24.  He normally hates his birthday.  He says it's the let down from the holidays and everyone is normally in a bad mood.  I hope we proved him wrong yesterday.  He didn't feel well, which always sucks to be sick but especially so on your birthday.  As soon as he left for work yesterday Ben and I got up to make him a card.  Ben was so excited and did all the decorating and color choices himself.  All I did was write on it and fold the paper in half. Shawn came home from work early.  I think he was hoping to get a nap in, but Ben had other plans.  I went to work and then we went to dinner with his family.  We went to the yummy Mexican restaurant his family loves.  I ate way too much food.  Then, we went back to his parent's house for cake.  Shawn's perfect cake is yellow cake with chocolate frosting.  His sister, Kelly, and her boyfriend made the cake and it was so yummy and

A big post Christmas blog.

This is probably going to be a fairly long entry with tons of pictures, so bear with me please. Last Wednesday (Christmas Eve's Eve) Ben and I made Ben's gift to his Grandparents.  We were going to buy cheap frames and let him paint them and put a picture of himself in there, but instead we decided to just make the frames all together because then he could really go crazy.  He had such a good time.  We even put his hand print on there since he loves to do them.  Here's some pictures of him making his frames and then the finished product. Wednesday night, we made sugar cookies as a family.  They were the last cookies I had on my list to make.  Shawn turned out to be a cookie making and decorating fool.  It was quite funny.  Here's how they turned out. Thursday, I had to work.  I went in long enough to get my work done because we had to pack

Busy day turned out successful!

This morning, Ben and I got up, turned on the Christmas music, and finally did the Santa craft.  He had such a good time. I love that he loves to do things like that with me.  Here's a picture of our growing art gallery. We also did a ton of baking. We made 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies.  Ben ate so many cookies as they came out of the oven, I was worried he was going to get sick. We also made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins which came from a bread recipe I got here.   Domestic Wonder - Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread .  All I did to change the recipe from what she did was I used regular sized semi sweet chocolate chips, no walnuts, and cut the time down to 15 minutes since they were in muffin tins instead of loaf pans.  Warning:  These are extremely tasty.  Today, we also got almost all of our shopping done.  We only have a few more specific gifts to get, 2 very special gifts to

Santa Craft

Ben loves Santa or as he says when he sees Santa, "Ho ho ho."  I've been wanting to do this craft with him for a little while.  I've seen it done lots of places and lots of different ways. What you will need: construction paper scissors glue googly eyes cotton balls 1.  Cut out a circle for Santa's head, his hat, his nose and mouth. 2.  Glue the hat onto the head. 3.  Glue the head onto your background. 4.  Glue on his nose. 5.  Glue on his mouth and eyes. 6.  Glue cotton balls on his hat. 7.  Glue cotton balls on for his beard. And you're done.
