Happy Homemaker Monday

Just a quick note.  This is my 500th post!  Yay!  Alright, now on to Happy Homemaker Monday. The Weather::: It's starting to be more like fall around here.  I could do without the 80s but, I should complain because even that is cooler than what we were having a couple of weeks ago. Right now I am:   Sitting on the couch watching the Today Show. Thinking: Hoping these lab people for our life insurance, get our messages to reschedule.  I cannot give a urine sample 2 times in 2 or so hours.  Also, I'd really like a nap. On my reading pile::: I haven't been reading anything, and it makes me sad. On my tv::: At some point today I need to try to watch Breaking Amish and The Real Housewives of New Jersey. On the menu for this week::: I haven't been able to plan the menu yet, so as of right now, I'm flying by the seat of my pants.   Monday  -  Tuesday  -  Wednesday  - Thursday  -  Friday  -  Saturday  - Sunday  - On my to do list:

Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

I've been slacking a lot lately when it comes to my blog, dinners, my housework, etc.  I've been cooking sandwiches, hot dogs, and scrambled eggs for dinner a lot lately.  I was in need of a change, and with this pregnancy, like each of them have been, all food tastes bland so I need spicy, salty, or super sweet foods.  These Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches turned out delicious and I love every opportunity to use my crockpot. Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches 2-3 large chicken breast 1/2 cup Franks buffalo sauce 1/4 cup yellow mustard 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar hamburger buns Put the chicken in a crockpot.  In a bowl, mix the buffalo sauce, mustard, and apple cider vinegar together and pour over the chicken.  Cook the chicken on high for 5-6 hours.  Shred the chicken about half an hour before it's done cooking and stir with the sauce well.  Serve on hamburger buns.  We put sliced cheese on ours as well. This would be a great meal for during a football game!

Flying By The Seat Of My Pants

Yup, I'm hanging in there.  Life has been absolutely crazy!  As I look through my previous posts to see what I have already mentioned of this craziness, I see that I've been neglecting my blog during some important and really big, some scary events. A few weeks ago, we had a really scary even with Rylie.  We were getting ready to go get Ben from school.  I told the girls I was going to pee and we'd be on our way.  I left my drink, in a big tumbler cup with a hard straw and lid, on my tray next to the couch.  I think Rylie was trying to bring me the cup and taking a drink at the same time, when she tripped in the hallway and fell on the cup, or the straw rather.  All I could see from the toilet (sorry for the possible TMI, but face it, we all pee) was parts of the straw flying across the floor.  Rylie came in with her hand, face, and shirt covered in blood.  It took me a second to figure out where the blood was coming from.  She had the hard straw in her mouth when she fel

Mac'n'Cheese Soup

So, a little while ago, in one of my Taste of Home recipe books, I stumbled across this recipe that looked like one my kids would LOVE.  Honestly, I've been a little under the weather and have been adjusting to being so busy all day with running kids all over creation that I haven't really cooked a meal.  I mean I've done sandwiches or scrambled eggs for dinner or picked up food, but not really cooked a meal, and I was really missing a nice big home cooked meal. Mac'n'Cheese Soup 1 pkg (14 oz) deluxe macaroni and cheese dinner mix 9 cups of water, divided 1 cup fresh broccoli florets 2 tbsp finely chopped onion 1 can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted 2 1/2 cups milk 1 cup chopped fully cooked ham or bacon (I used bacon) Set aside the cheese sauce packet from the macaroni and cheese mix.  In a large sauce pan, bring 8 cups of water to a boil.  Add the macaroni; cook for 8-10 minutes or until tender. In another large sauce pan, bri

Sydney's First Day

Today was Sydney's first day of preschool.  She's growing up so fast! Last night, Shawn got a phone call from his dad asking him to the Royals game tonight so of course he needed his good Royals shirt washed.  I had to wash and dry his shirt and shorts late last night. I didn't end up sleeping long but what sleep I did get was pretty hard.  This morning, Ben and I were up bright and early so I could get him dressed, fed, teeth brushed, and taken to school. Ben is my sweet boy.  Every morning, I pull up in the drop off zone of the parking lot, he moves to front of the van, gives me a hug and a kiss, and gets out.  As he's getting out, I always tell him to have a good day, be great, and that I'll pick him up in a little bit.  Usually he'll say "Love you, Mom.  See you later, alligator." and of course I say "After a while, crocodile." as he's running past the van. So, after dropping off Ben, I came home and started trying to get Sydney
