Whirlwind Update

Oh boy, we have been oh so busy here. There has been work, school, dance, family get togethers, birthdays, an anniversary, and so much more.  That's not including all the prep for what is about to happen for our family.  In the next 4 months, we will have Sydney and Rylie's birthdays, the birth of our new baby, and an out of state wedding we will be attending.  (Yes traveling with a 1 month old... what can I say, we are brave parents.) Rylie got her big girl bed!!!  More importantly, she is actually sleeping in her big girl bed. Her bed came before the bedding and the wall decals, so for the first few nights she slept with Ben's old crib sheet and Sydney's old crib blanket but she didn't care. Here she is now that the bed and area have been made her own.  She loves it!   I finally got the kids school pictures up.  I need to get a more updated one of Rylie.  The kids don't even know who she is, in that picture.  I worked on my crochet mood bla

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: It's 15 degrees out right now.  It's seriously cold, and I'm not digging it.  Especially after the 60 some degree day we had yesterday. Right now I am:::   I'm taking a moment to sit down on the couch before picking up Ben from school. Thinking and pondering::: Getting prepared for the baby.  Coming up with a name and getting everything ready as well as Rylie and Sydney's birthdays before the baby gets here and then the out of state wedding a month after the baby is born that we will be attending.  I'm stressing!   On my bedside table::: Bridget Jones the Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding.  I'm rereading it so that I can read the new one.   On my tv tonight::: I'm not really sure at the moment. Listening to::: The TV is on as background noise. On the menu for this week::: Monday  - Baked tacos Tuesday  - Ham and Egg casserole Wednesday  - Creme brulee french toast Thursday  - Lemon Pork chops with mustard sauce Friday  - S

A Surprisingly Good Day

Days when Shawn leaves are always kind of sad days around our house, especially when it cuts into our weekend.  We try to make the best of it.  I was a little bummed yesterday because we all slept in, and I mean really slept in.  I woke up before the girls at about 11.  When your day is already cut short, you don't want to spend the day sleeping.  Saturday night, it snowed like crazy, so we had some work to do outside.  It was so cold that when the wind blew, any exposed skin (faces) burned so badly so luckily we weren't out long.  I spent some time outside with the kids while Shawn used the snow blower on our walkway, sidewalk, and driveway.  This was Rylie's first experience in the snow this year since she napped through playing outside after the last snow. We came inside, sat by the fire to warm up, and ate a nice hearty lunch.  Sadly, then it was time to help Shawn pack for his trip.  We had been keeping track of Shawn's flight

Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window::: I think it is like -4 degrees outside right now with a windchill of about -25.  It's so cold, that they cancelled school all over today. Right now I am:::   Eating my Greek yogurt with granola and watching last night's Sister Wives. Thinking and pondering::: Getting back into the swing of our schedule. On my bedside table::: Nothing at the moment, but I'm dying to get my hands on something good to read.  On my tv tonight::: I need to catch up on my Downton Abbey since season 4 just started here last night.  I'm also binge watching Sons of Anarchy. Listening to::: My TV and the kids being loud and expressive while playing with toys. On the menu for this week::: Monday  - Chili  Tuesday  - Slow cooker honey mustard chicken with roasted potatoes Wednesday  - Potato egg casserole Thursday  - Spaghetti with bread Friday  - Grilled cheese and roasted red pepper  and tomato soup Saturday  -  Sunday  -  On my to do list::: Laundry  Dishes Vacuu
