Showing posts with the label farmer's market

Wonderful Saturday

I'm still waiting for my computer to go to the shop. My husband's been driving around for a week with it in his car, so this is coming from my ipad. Sorry its not a great post. I'm so limited to what it will let me do and how I can format my posts. I just have had such a wonderful day, that I have to post about it.  This morning we got up and went to the farmer's market. Our good stroller bit the big one on a muddy trail a while back so for now we are using an umbrella stroller which means there is no basket underneath to put our purchases in. Shawn ended up carrying Rylie so we could put all of our goodies in the stroller.  She loved helping pick things out and helping carry stuff like carrots and potatoes. We got a few goodies and even got emu leg bones for Maya. She loves them, so we buy them all summer every year.  The air conditioner has been out on the van for weeks.  Today we finally gave in and took it to the shop. Being a busy family of five we can't go wit...

One More Day

It's Sunday which means that there is one day left of our weekend, and one day left with Shawn before his next trip.  He leaves tomorrow for Atlanta and won't be back until Thursday. Because of Shawn's travel and our busy schedule, we try to do as much as possible on the weekends and they usually start late Friday afternoon. Friday morning started with Sydney feeding Rylie her apple. It doesn't matter how many times I stop her.  For some reason Sydney loves to feed her sister.  I must say that this is better than the ring pop a week or two ago. In the afternoon we went to Shawn's parent's house, where Chris, Morgan, and Shawn and Chris' friend Darren were getting ready to leave for their float trip.  The kids were bummed that they were leaving and wouldn't be there to play with them, but I hope they had fun. Rylie gets a lot of tummy time and desperately wants to crawl.  She'll be army crawling in no time which scares me because she'...

Full Days and Attitude Adjustments

Yesterday was an amazingly spontaneous day.  I love weekend days like that.  I woke up with Ben and decided, "Lets go to the Farmer's Market!"  I got everybody up and dressed, and off we went.  I love the Farmer's Market.  I love supporting local individual farms and people better than giant farms that are located God only knows where.  I love the people and the atmosphere.  Most of the people there are really friendly, you get to really know and like the venders, and every now and then you see people you already know. After we left the Farmer's Market, we came home to eat and put away our new produce, and then left to Shawn's parent's house.  They were doing work on the house, and might I add, kicking butt on all their projects.  They were in the act of painting the garage when we pulled up.  It looks amazing.  Shawn helped out with the painting and then took his Grandma to run some errands.  We watched GG's (Thats' what ...

My Favorite Days

Productive Saturday mornings are my favorite.  I love when we get up and enjoy the day together as a family.  Now with Shawn traveling for work, it's even more special. This morning we got up and went to the Farmer's Market out here in Lawrence.  I love supporting local people and I think food is much better when it's home made or home grown instead of mass produced and made with a bunch of not natural ingredients.  We try to feed our family more organic things anyway.  There is nothing better than buying organic produce from a bunch of hippy men with dreads, baked goods from an Amish woman, and fresh sausage from an old farmer. After the Farmer's market, we got coffees, picked up my prescriptions from the pharmacy, and got our van a much needed car wash. Sydney decided she did not like the car wash, about half way through it.  Ben held her hand and comforted her so she was alright, but all we've heard from her since then, was how she doesn't like car...

Where Have I Been?

I've been having the best times lately.  I have been spending a lot of time with the kids, as always since I'm a stay at home mom, but it never gets old.  The husband and I have been communicating better than we have in a long time.  I'm not saying we have been having problems or even that our communication was ever bad, but when we have those little tiffs that every couple has every now and then, we've been better lately at solving them with real solutions and not just band aids.  For the first time in all my 25 years, I can honestly say that I feel like an adult.  I know I am one, but it's just like on your birthday, when someone says "Do you feel older?" and you really want to know what they think the difference between how 24 and 25 feels, is. Easter was amazing even though we got really behind and lunch/dinner was served about an hour and half late.  Who cares!  It's the holiday!  You get to be around the ones you love, and this only meant...

I've been neglectful...

Oops, it seems this week I've been a little neglectful with my dear blog.  I'll try to do the best I can to update today.  I'm not in a great mood today, but I'll try to not let it affect my update today. We had a nice memorial day weekend.  Saturday, we started the day out by going to the Farmer's Market.  We didn't get there until late though so we missed out on the lettuce and spinach.  We did buy a bottle of wine for $18.00.  When we pop it open, I'll let you know what I think about it.  I'm normally happy with cheaper wines.  I've become a big red fan over the last couple of years and Shawn needs a sweet wine so we bought the one that will hopefully fit both of our likes. After lunch, I took Ben with me as I went garage sale hunting.  Shawn watched Sydney and did his school work.  We didn't find a lot, especially since we went out so late, but we did find a couple of good things.  We got Ben two little toys and I found a pr...
