New Years-ish Post and Morning Frustrations!

Good Morning and Happy Friday! I sure hope the new year finds everyone well. Every year I look back on the year before. This year, I don't really want to do all that.  While it wasn't a completely awful year, it wasn't a great one either. We've lost loved ones. I went to two funerals this year for my only surviving Grandparents. Rylie went to kindergarten and Scottie started preschool. That's about the only things that really happened at all.... Here is my top 9 from this year on my instagram. It's pretty good at catching some highlights of the year. And the kids Christmas picture I also always say that I hope to get back to my blog. I'm not going to say that, even though I intend to. I just feel that actions speak louder than words. I'm back to videos, back to my blogs, trying to catch up my book and recipe updates. I'm also still reading. We blew past both of our goals last year. 60 recipes completed in our 52 in 2017 and 33 or so ...
Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. Though my personal preference was for Lux, I found that Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heavy, but with a touch of mellow smoothness.  Lifebuoy , on the other hand... (Yechh!) ~ A Christmas Story You are standing outside the doors of your child's school waiting to pick them up.  The doors open and the children start spilling out into the school yard. Your child's teacher sees you, makes eye contact, and starts walking your way.  They are only about 15 maybe 20 feet away, but the walk to you feels like slow motion as your stomach drops and you want to turn and run, but can't. They tell you, your child did something so awful to a classmate that it makes you cringe and really want to run away. Surely I am not the only one this has happened to, right?  This is the 3rd time this has happened to me, this year.  When it happens to me, I feel like I've hopped in a time machine and I'm t...

Rough Days

A friend of mine posted online a link to Scary Mommy .  It's about mommy shaming and why we do it.  My good friend Torren and I discussed some of this one evening, and agreed with one of the reasons listed.  We post only the good things on social media.  The good things our kids do, vacation, outings, children awards and first days.  We don't post the bad times, the times we break down, the times our kids are being rotten, well, being typical kids.  We basically lie to the world and only see lies.  In an effort to fix it, here goes my truth. Right now, I'm going through some rough patches with my little ones.  Particularly Sydney and Rylie.  It's attitude central from two extremely stubborn girls.  They both make up their minds that they are going to do what they want to, and nobody is going to stop them.  When you stop them, it's a nightmare. Yesterday, Rylie decided at Ben's school that she was going to sit in Ben's seat. ...

While I Was Away...

I can't believe my last post, outside of Happy Homemaker Monday, was Mother's Day.  Life has not slowed down here in the Tiemann house hold.  I mean really, I keep hoping for a week where we can just lay around and do nothing.  Yea, right, like that's going to happen. Ben started t-ball the week following Mother's Day.  I think his coach began as an over achiever, planning 3-4 practices a week.  For kindergartners?  That's insane!  Either way he really seems to like it and now the coach is cutting down to one practice a week and games.  Thank goodness! The week after Mother's Day was also Sydney's last week of school.  On Tuesday, she went on a field trip to the KU museums which she seemed to enjoy.  On Thursday, her last day, they did a preschool picnic in the park a few blocks from her school.  I dropped her off at school and she walked to the park, while I, with Rylie and Scotland, ran to the grocery store for some lunchables...
