It's Friday!!!

I can't believe it's finally here!  I'm so happy this week is finally over.  I'm just waiting on Ben to wake up so we can see what adventures the day will bring.  Everyday with him is an adventure.  I love it! I haven't done any of the big things on my to do list this week, but oh well.  Maybe this weekend with Shawn's help I can accomplish these things.  It's just a lot of major cleaning and decluttering before the baby gets here.  Now I promise, my house is nowhere near this bad, but the show hoarders freaks me out.  It makes me feel claustrophobic and like I need to go on a cleaning and throwing away spree.  My frames for my glasses came in today, so after I get to the eye doctor so they can put my lenses in them, I'll be able to see again!  I'm super excited.  I know that it sounds silly, but I have been with out whole, working glasses for a long time and I haven't worn my contacts since July because they irritate my eyes.  There is anoth

That burst of energy I've been looking for.

I'm not overrun with energy, but I'm much better today than I have been.  Last night, Ben was asleep by 12:30.  I know that is still late, but it would have been earlier if dinner didn't take so long.  We didn't get eating until after 11 which caused everything else to run late as well.  Ben slept until 11:30ish this morning so I've decided that he doesn't get a nap this afternoon.  We are really trying to work on his sleep schedule. Today, while he did his coloring sheet, I cut out the letters A-E from those foam sheets we have. Here's Ben doing his coloring sheet for the day: Now he can play with them and not have to worry about ripping them.  Every week, I'll make the new letter for him as well. He's such a silly goober today.  He wanted his picture taken with each letter, but when I got out the camera, it was all business to him.  He wouldn't smile for the pictures.

Alphabet matching game

So, I was trying to come up with something that would stimulate my little man's brain a bit and be fun at the same time.  While he was doing his letter E coloring sheets I came up with a little matching game. What you will need: colored construction paper a marker or pen something to trace for circles scissors I liked the idea of using lots of bright colors. 1.  Trace the circles on to the paper. 2.  Cut the circles out.  I made a lot of circles so I have extra for other activities as well. 3.  Write the alphabet onto one side of the circles.  Make sure that the colors and letters don't always match as well. That's all you have to do.  I only got out the letters through E, because that's all he has learned so far.  You can flip them over to make a memory game as well.  I didn't flip them over today.  I was just trying to help him recognize which letter is which and we had a good time

So much to do, so little motivation

This has been a crazy week.  Ben has decided that he's not going to sleep at night and would rather sleep during the day.  We are trying to work with him and get his schedule back on track, but so far no luck.  We are co-sleeping still with hopes to soon move him into his own bed and his own room.  We will not be co-sleeping with Sydney.  We have added Up to our movies that Ben wants to watch at all times.  It's kind of funny.  He got stuck on one movie and now he just loves any children's movie he watches. Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment in the morning.  Nothing new or exciting.  I did beg for him to get her out now and he laughed and told me no.  I also had a pre-screening for a job at work.  It's actually for my current job, but the job is moving to a different department and supervisor and the new supervisor is hiring new people or us for the job openings.  It's kind of weird and scary to interview for a job you already have, for now. Last night,

The letter E

This week we are learning the letter E.  Today's craft was on No Time for Flash Cards.   It was super easy with not a lot of details.  I felt kind of bad, so we will definitely have to find another big craft to do later this week. E is for Elephant What you will need: Blue or Gray paper markers or crayons glue scissors googly eyes (I took the picture using crayons but decided later to use markers.) 1.  Draw and cut out the letter E, but leave the middle long and like a trunk. 2.  Draw and cut out an ear and tail. 3.  Color the E. 4.  Glue the ear on. 5.  Glue the tail on. 6.  Glue the eye on. And you're done.  Told you it was super easy and not very detailed.  Just not a lot of pieces.  Ben wanted me to take his picture with it on the fridge too. Our lovely,

Parks and Pet Stores

This afternoon turned out to be well worth going out even though I was exhausted.  Before we took Shawn back to work from his lunch break, Ben ate a mini lunchable.  This is not a lot of food and Ben eats 2 of these generally at a sitting, so when we got back from taking Shawn back to work, I made him eat some left over macaroni and cheese.  It's one of his favorites.  After lunch, Ben to do his lessons (or "school work" as we sometimes call it) that I believe I mentioned earlier he was not happy about.  He actually colored 2 coloring pages very nicely without complaint (after he got started anyway) and we came up with a few D letter words. After he was done, we went to the park and played on the toys.  He was a little nervous at first but eventually worked up the courage to go down one of the big slides on his own.  I was so proud of him.  He had such a good time "driving" and being a scary animal on the toys. It seemed to get cold fast t

A beautiful day

So, I keep coming back to my blog thinking about all these things that I want to talk about, but don't even know how to begin.  I'm actually running a little short on time as well, as I've been making promises to Ben that when the weather gets warmer, we'll go to the park.  Here it is, February 18th, the sun is out, and the bank a block from my house is telling me it's 51 degrees.  I think it's time my promise paid out even though I'm exhausted and don't know how long we'll stay.  He's so excited and that makes it worth it to me.  I'm looking for recommendations on fun parks out here in Lawrence for Ben.  We know of a few, but are always looking for new fun places. Tuesday night, we had a funeral to go to.  We didn't stay long as we got there quite late, and it was packed.  After the funeral, we went to Mom's house and had Jambalaya for Mardi Gras.  It was so good!  My mom gave Ben his first Nerf gun which led to hours of amusement

The letter D

This week is all about the letter D.  Today, we did a craft that I saw here on Totally Tots .  It's super cute and this mom's blog has some really cute and amazing ideas.  There are a lot of pictures with this craft today, because Ben was being silly and it's moments like these that make me laugh when I'm feeling down.  I may need them one of these days.  Haha. D is for Dinosaur What you will need: 2 shades of green construction paper markers scissors glue googly eyes 1.  Draw the letter D on a piece of the construction paper and cut it out. 2.  Color the D. 3.  Cut out 4 rectangles for legs, 1 rectangle for a neck, a tail, 5 triangles for spikes, and an oval for the head. 4. Glue the legs , tail, and neck onto the back of the D. 5.  Flip the D over and glue the head onto the neck and the spikes onto his back.
