Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
I think it's supposed to be mild and rainy.

Things that make me happy:
Having a completely clean and decluttered house.

Book I'm reading:
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

What's on my TV today:
Secret Life of the American Teenager on Netflix.

On the menu for dinner:
My husband requested Bierocks, but I don't believe I have everything we need and he has the car, so I'm thinking sweet and sour pork chops with rice and steamed veggies.

On my To Do List:

Laundry

Dinner

Dusting
Clean the glass
Wrap Sydney's presents

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:

I've been really bad and haven't been cooking lately.  We've been so busy cleaning out the mess that was our junk rooms and are now our garage and office, that we've not been cooking.

In the craft basket:
Nothing at the moment, but I think I'm going to work on things for the kids rooms.

Looking forward to this week:
My baby girl is turning 1 on Wednesday.

Tips and Tricks:
I don't think I have one again this week.

My favorite blog post this week:
Nerd Nest-Favorite Children's Books
Who doesn't love Children's books?!?!  I get worn out on reading the same books over and over again so I'm always looking for more.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:
Don't put off decluttering.  The mess just multiplies.

On my mind:
Getting ready for Sydney's birthday and relaxing after a few weeks of hardcore organizing in the house.

I agree with the decluttering! I can't stand a cluttered house. So if I just do things through out the day it gets done sooner.

I hope your little one has a great 1st birthday :)

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
