Happy Homemaker Monday

 happyhomemakermonday

The weather:::
It's been warm and cloudy here lately.

Right now I am:::
Sitting at the kitchen counter typing this post, waiting on the grocery delivery, and talking to Ben while he does the breakfast dishes.

On my reading pile:::
I just finished The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena and now I'm reading The Status of All Things by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke.

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
Saturday night movie night we watched The Conjuring (I'd previously seen 1/3 of the movie and have seen the sequel) and The Aviator (I've already seen it) and then yesterday while folding laundry we watched a little Planet Earth 2 about animals in major cities. Last night, of course, was Game of Thrones which Shawn and I try to never miss.

On my TV:::
I'm hoping to finish Ozark this week. Maybe...

On the menu for this week:::

Monday
Bangers and Mash with green veg
Tuesday
Spaghetti and garlic bread
Wednesday
Honey mustard Pork Scallopini and potatoes
Thursday
Grilled Chicken Breast with beans and veg
Friday
Homemade Pizza
Saturday

Sunday

On my to do list:::
Kitchen......Pick up counter tops Sydney will vacuum and I will mop.
Laundry.....I've got about 1 load to wash, a load in the dryer and one in the basket to fold and put away, and the kids new school clothes to de-tag.
House......The girls are going to dust, Ben's going to wipe down bathrooms, I'll clean the glass and the kids will vacuum their rooms.
School..... Getting everything ready for the kids new school year.  Ben and Syd start 4th and 2nd grade on Wednesday and Rylie starts kindergarten on Friday. Scottie doesn't start preschool for another couple of weeks. I have meetings with Ben and Syd's teachers this afternoon.

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Nothing at the moment, but still hoping to jump back into my virus stitch blanket.

Looking around the house:::
Ben has finished doing dishes and is playing on the switch next to me at the kitchen counter. The girls are running around the house playing some pretend game where Scottie is a puppy (her favorite thing to pretend to be) and poor Duchess is laying on the couch looking annoyed that they are being so loud and disturbing her sleep. Shawn is at work in the office. We moved furniture around in the basement yesterday making it feel much more cozy. I'm much happier with it already.

From the camera:::

My beautiful babies on our last adventure before school starting this week.

What I'm wearing today:::
Jean shorts and a white and navy blouse with a pair of nude colored sandals.

One of my simple pleasures:::
Sunday afternoons at home with the family. We did nothing but fold laundry together and watch nature documentaries together but it's my favorite thing.

Inspirational Quote, Bible verse, anything you want to share:::

In honor of the kids going back to school this week.

My girls go back to school next Tuesday. We've begun "training". Early to bed, early to rise. They are NOT liking it :)

Have a great week!

I'm eating a turkey bacon and gouda sandwich and drinking my venti mocha with 2 pumps of pumpkin spice. As I look outside my window::: The sun is shining so bright and it's absolutely gorgeous outside. The leaves are just starting to change. We put up our outside decorations last night for fall and Halloween. It's looks so cute out there. Right now I am:::: Sitting at the counter trying to quickly type up this post and eat my breakfast. Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th

Long Time, No Talk

 Hey!! It’s been so long since I’ve come on here with anything other than recipes. Sadly, I haven’t been cooking much lately, so I don’t have any new recipes at the moment, but I have been super busy. It’s Nutcracker season in our house. It’s Christmas time, school concert time, and we have a million birthdays happening now and soon, but the thing that’s taking up all of our time is Nutcracker Shenanigans. All three girls are in the show. This year, Scottie is a sunflower. Rylie is a party child, a strawberry, and the understudy for both Clara and Fritz. Sydney is a snow, a trooper, and a part time flower. Ben is also working tech for the show. He’s been helping set everything up, and during the show he’ll be working the light board. I’ve been volunteering by watching littles during the tech week rehearsals, and another mom and myself have taken on the responsibility of running the Nutcracker Tea Party fundraiser for the pre professional dance company. It’s been fun, exhausting, someti
