A Year In Review

I'm looking back on the crazy year that was 2012.  As I look back, I see that yes, my life is absolutely insane, but I love it!

Post the first sentence of your first blog post of each month. You can also add a favorite picture from each month.

January

Last night, we got Sydney to sleep around her actual bed time, but Ben wanted to stay up and party.

February

On February 14, 2012 at exactly 8:15 am we welcomed Rylie Jane Tiemann into our crazy family.

March

I'm sure any of you out there with kids knows that when you add a new baby to your family there is a busy adjustment phase.

April

Most of the time I'm pretty laid back and don't act like much gets to me.

May

Well last week was quite a week!  Thankfully this week is much slower.

June

Yesterday was an amazingly spontaneous day.  I love weekend days like that.

July

Absolutely Exhausted and Completely Sleep Deprived  That's the life of a parent, right?

August

This week has been a blur of time flying and all kinds of emotions.  I'm not going to bring drama to my blog, it already happened with Facebook, but I will say that I don't think my family will ever be the same again, and maybe, just maybe that's for the best.

September

Shawn went to play football with some friends this morning and this afternoon we are planning on going to Kansas City for some swimming, burgers, and maybe Santa CaliGon Days this evening.

October

Sorry, I seem to have MIA for awhile from a lot of parts of my life.  There has been a lot going on in our crazy house, and between Shawn's work travel and many other somewhat personal things, I've been on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

November

Oh my goodness.  I had no idea that when I had kids that eventually every holiday that you already love, would be drawn out even more.

December

Yup, our family is expanding by the minute, or so it feels.  I'm an aunt again!

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
