Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather:::
Chilly and rainy. It's 40 degrees and raining as I type this and it's only supposed to get a little warmer throughout the day.

On my reading pile:::
I just finished Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella last night in bed. Today I'm starting Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher.  I haven't seen the Netflix show yet, as I decided to wait until after the book. Suicide is a super sensitive subject to me, so I'm not sure how far I will actually make it in the book or show, but I'm going to give it a try.

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
I finished the latest season of Grace and Frankie and have been watching The Fall on Netflix. It's successfully giving me the Heebie Jebbies. I also watched the latest Grey's Anatomy.

On my TV:::
Call the Midwife
Doctor Who
The Fall

On the menu for this week:::

Monday
Garbage burritos (breakfast burritos filled with sausage, eggs, cheese, and hash browns)
Tuesday
Frozen Pizzas
Wednesday
Spaghetti and garlic bread
Thursday
Grilled Cheese, tomato soup, apple sauce, and baked beans
Friday

Saturday

Sunday

On my to do list:::
Monday - Shawn's on a field trip with Sydney today. I've got a load or so of laundry to do and some floors to clean. The groceries will be here in another hour or 2. Tonight, Sydney and Rylie have dance, Ben has his clay class, and Sydney has soccer practice.
Tuesday - Picking up the house and the usual upkeep. Maybe organizing my closet if the time allows. Kids clean their rooms. In the evening, Ben has soccer practice.
Wednesday - Usual household chores, organizing the closet if I didn't get to it Tuesday. The big kids have marathon club after school and Ben has his drawing and painting class in the evening.
Thursday - The firefighters are coming to Rylie's preschool, so I'll probably stick around for that and let Scottie see too. In the evening, Ben has soccer practice.
Friday - Ben's history field trip. Shawn will be chaperoning that one as well. I need to turn in some baked good for the cakewalk during the school carnival.
Saturday - Ben, Sydney, and Rylie's soccer games, Sydney's soccer team cookout, and the school carnival.
Sunday - Power washing the deck and replacing a few parts.

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::

I've not really been creating anything lately. Just working working working.

Looking around the house:::
It doesn't look too bad. The kids' rooms are trashed and I need to make my bed but other than that, it's not too shabby. The girls are playing nicely in their room, and for this minute they are getting along. Lord knows, it hasn't been that way all morning, and it probably won't continue long, so I need to crack on with anything that needs doing before they need my attention again.

From the camera:::
We live in such a beautiful artistic and embracing city. We love to go on walks and look for some of the gorgeous art. Last week, Rylie had the class bear and we took it downtown. While Ben and Shawn were getting their haircuts, the girls and I found this beautiful wall.

What I'm wearing today:::
I have on a pair of jeggings, a black tank top, and a cowl neck type sweatshirt. When I was taking Ben and Sydney to school this morning, I wore my rain boots, as everything is soaking wet out.

One of my simple pleasures:::
Blaring my music in the kitchen, singing and dancing, while I cook or do dishes. It's one of my absolute favorite things.

Bible verse, Devotional:::

The Fall is SO good, I actually need to catch up on the latest season, but have watched every thing else. Definitely creepy.

I only watched an episode of Thirteen Reasons Why, seems to be the popular show right now, reminds of Making a Murder with it's popularity.

Your menu sounds good. Hope you have a great week Liz :)

Great photo! I love the idea of a class bear, how fun! Is The Fall scary? I'll have to look into it. I've been searching for a new Netflix show. My teenager watched Thirteen Reasons Why (I didn't even know it was a book until he told me)and told me about it. Personally, I decided not to watch it as I don't think I could handle it.

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
