Happy Homemaker Monday

Is it really Monday, already?!  I feel like I blinked and the weekend was over.

As I look outside my window:::

Crazy Kansas weather....

Right now I am:::
Getting ready to go pick up Ben from school for his doctor's appointment.

Thinking and pondering:::
How proud I am of Ben and all of his hard work with school.  We are finally seeing his work paying off.

On my bedside table:::
Frozen by Sarah Nathan and Sela Roman (I'm reading it to the kids at bedtime)
The Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson
The First American Cookbook A Facsimile of American Cookery, 1976 by Amelia Simmons

On my tv tonight:::
Trashy Reality TV

Playing on the radio:::
I'm really into the song Let her go by Passenger.

On the menu for this week:::

I've sadly not even prepared a meal plan for this week.  That's my project for this afternoon.

Monday -
Tuesday -
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Laundry
Dishes
meal plan
pick up living room
kids room

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Dish clothes and my Granny Square blanket.

My simple pleasure:::
Trashy reality tv.  I don't know why, I just love it.

Lesson learned the past week:::
I don't know of a lesson I've learned this past week, but something that was reconfirmed for me this weekend, and is constantly.  Family!!!  They will always be there, for fun, love, company, and when you need them.

Looking around the house:::
The girls are getting their shoes and jackets on so we can go pick up Ben.  There are toys all over the living room, and laundry to be washed in the hallway.  My house is a mess but it will have to wait.

From the camera:::

My daughter Rylie just loves her cousin Payton.  She was following him all over for hugs.

On my prayer list:::
Ben while we figure out what to do next about his ears. My husband while he travels this week.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
