Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather.....
It's pretty cloudy out today and quite muggy. Thankfully the temp is fairly low, so it's bearable.

Right now I am....
I'm sitting on the deck with the girls, sipping my coffee, mentally preparing myself for the week ahead.

Thinking....
I have a giant to do list, and Ben and Syd start school this week. I'm dreading it.

On my reading pile....
Dragon Fly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon (The 2nd Outlander book)

On my TV.....
Not sure, probably just vlogs today.

On the menu for this week....
I have to work on this today.  It's on my to-do list. It's a work in progress.

Monday - Chicken curry, rice, veg, strawberries, garlic naan
Tuesday -  Nachos
Wednesday - Homemade Pizza
Thursday - Brat burgers, grilled potatoes, asparagus
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list today and this week....
Laundry!!! I have a couple of loads to wash, need to wash the kids bedding, but may put that off a little bit longer as I have a massive fold pile to conquer first.
Clean the floors.  Ben had a spill this morning that sent cocoa pebbles and milk everywhere.  I cleaned it up, but it's still a bit sticky, so it needs a good mopping.  The floors in the living room and downstairs could use some love while I'm at it.
Dishes. The never ending chore.
Bathrooms. I didn't get them done on Friday or this weekend, so they really need it.
Meeting with Ben's teacher this afternoon.
Tuesday - Shawn is out of town. Grocery delivery. pack up the kids school supplies,
Wednesday - Ben and Sydney's first day back at school (only half day). Sad mommy day. Have scheduled the day off as I'll probably mope around the house and watch junky reality TV until they come home.
Thursday - Kid's dentist appointment and a meeting with Syd's teacher. Kid's first full day at school.
Friday - Typical housework day. Bathrooms, etc.

In the craft basket....
Nothing at the moment but I need to work on name banners for Sydney and Rylie.  Ben and Scotland have them already over their beds and the girls are a bit jealous.  Maybe I'll work on those tomorrow and Wednesday.

Looking forward to this week....

We need more structure. All summer our schedule has been nonexistant and school starting is really going to stink for us.

Looking around the house....
The house is picked up decently, outside of the laundry and dirty floors. There are dishes in the sink waiting to go into the dishwasher but the dishwasher is empty so it shouldn't take but a minute or two.  The kids are playing in their rooms.  The girls have barbies all over their floor, but they have been really good about picking up when they are done. Ben, still feeling under the weather, is laying in bed playing bridge building games on the iPad. Scotland is walking around the kitchen looking through the glass door through a paper towel tube.

From the camera....

We've had so many beautiful evenings, and we finally got a table and chairs for our back deck.  We've been taking full advantage of the table and weather by eating out there at dinner, or Shawn and I spending quality time together out there after the kids go to bed.

On my prayer list.....

My kids, since they don't want school to start and Wednesday is the day. Me, since I'm not ready for the kids to go back to school, although, I do love the social side of it. A few friends and their families, as they go through some tough times. Finally, my husband, for safe travels this week.

Bible verse, Devotional....

Gorgeous sky, darling!
Indian food sounds amazing today, but alas...none to be had around here. Have a great week!

Beautiful sky in your photo! It's so hard when it feels like school is starting back again too early (right there with you & your kids, we started last Thursday). Hope you all have a great week and wonderful fist day of school!

Hi Liz! Thanks for stopping at my blog. I remember that when my kids were school age, I always hated to see them go back to school too. Hope it's going well for your kids now that schools been in session for a bit.
You mentioned going to that crazy house I had on my blog in Eureka Springs. FYI - we didn't think it was worth the admission cost. I don't think the family has kept the place up very well. :)

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
