Time For a Little Christmas Spirit

I haven't had any energy lately.  Blame it on the pregnancy, blame it on the sick kid, blame it on the almost all-nighters we've been pulling here, who knows. Monday, we went in for the big sonogram.  I can't lie, we were hoping for a boy, but things always work out the way they are supposed to.  Poor Shawn and Ben are going to be way out numbered. In April we will be welcoming another sweet little girl into the Tiemann home.

The big kids got these big gingerbread men to decorate from some of Shawn's coworkers/friends.  We sat at the kitchen table to decorate them one evening.

Ben came down with another ear infection which led to long sleepless nights for us in this house.

Sydney even missed school on Tuesday because Ben had us all up in the middle of the night.

Thursday, Sydney had her last day of school until after new year.  They had so much fun making and decorating "gingerbread" houses.

The kids also made special presents for their Moms and Dads earlier this month or last month.

I'm so in love with this beautiful picture they took of Sydney.

I even found a little time to get crafty.

We have been having fun with Ralphie, our Elf.  He's had a few nights where he was either so tired he didn't make the trip to the North Pole or he really liked his hiding place because he chose it again.

In all the craziness I haven't even decorated anything more than the Christmas tree.  Today, even with my awful headache, I did a little decorating at the house.

Ben had his class Christmas party today also.  I was glad he made it back to school for it, since he missed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday because of being sick.

The teacher made this ornament for him yesterday. I thought it was really sweet.

I think we are hoping to do lots of fun and yummy Christmas cookies this weekend, as a family. I'm looking forward to it.  I need the Christmas spirit, and a little slow down...

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
