Happy Homemaker Monday

As I look outside my window:::
It's sunny and the snow is all melting leaving the world an ugly brown.  This week it's supposed to be beautiful although I fear it will be 10 degrees again soon.

Right now I am:::
Sitting on the ottoman in my living room waiting for our couches and lunch to arrive.

Thinking and pondering:::
Working on the house to get it ready for the baby.  There is so much to do and no time.

On my bedside table:::
Have not touched my book in a week or two.  I will be hopefully doing some reading this afternoon or evening.  Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding

On my tv tonight:::
The Following

Listening to:::
Sydney's iPad and Rylie's snoring.

On the menu for this week:::
I have yet to come up with my menu for the week.  That's one of my things to do today.

Monday -
Tuesday -
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Menu planning
Cleaning up the rest of the birthday party mess

Plans for this week:::
Dance for Sydney
Sydney's parent teacher conferences
school
our new furniture and washer and dryer getting here
an electrician coming out
So much craziness
My niece's birthday party this weekend
What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
My crochet mood blanket

My simple pleasure:::

Organizing my calendars.  I don't know why, but I love it.  I have a day planner, a monthly pocket planner, a regular calendar on the wall, and a dry erase calendar and I try to keep all of them updated.  I love them.

Lesson learned the past week:::
I'm still working on patience.  It will probably be a life long lesson though.

Looking around the house:::
The new couches have arrived and I'm in love.  The kitchen table is cluttered with trash and recycling from Rylie's birthday party this weekend to be put away.  Sydney and Rylie are cuddled up together watching a show on Sydney's iPad.

From the camera:::

Prayer List:::
I have a few friends I'm praying for, and anyone else who could use it.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His presence continually! ~ 1 Chronicles 16:11

Yea for new furniture! You are so lucky! My furniture is all pretty old - but still servicable. Enjoy all that new stuff and your sweet family. Have a great week.

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
