Tuesday in the Life

I thought, since life has been so crazy, but is starting to calm down just a little, I might do a week in the life type thing. I started taking pictures from my Tuesday on, so I'll try to do this through next Monday. One thing I haven't been good with, is documenting the morning wakeup through school run. I'll make a serious effort to get that tomorrow morning. The mornings are super chaotic here as we have kids attending two different schools that start at the exact same time, and we have one child that never wants to get up on days of school, and never wants to go to school.

Alright, here's our Tuesday.

The alarms start going off at 6:30 but I don't officially climb out of bed until 6:45 to 6:50. I wake up the girls. Scottie and Rylie are usually both on my floor at that point. I don't know why they don't sleep in their beds all night. After I wake them, I go to wake up Sydney in her room and then start turning on lights in the house. Then I call Ben to wake him up through his Alexa. Some mornings he's already up and reading, others he's tired and I wake him up, but he gets up pretty easy which saves me a trip downstairs.

Shawn takes Ben to school and then goes to the gym and I take the girls and come home to relax for a minute or two. The morning wake up, breakfast, and school drop off are exhausting and a breather on the couch is very appreciated.

Around the time Shawn was on his way home, I started the coffee.

We didn't make it to Costco last week so I had to do a decent sized grocery run.

Shawn uses sugar free coffee creamer but hates Hazelnut coffee creamer. Our grocery store is closing down and I'm forced to step out of my comfort zone and go through some other grocery stores in the area. The new one I'm leaning towards using was sold out of all sugar free coffee creamer except Hazelnut so I had to make another stop at the smaller store near my home.

While I was at grocery shopping, Rylie was having lunch with a friend and her mom at school.

Driving home I noticed the trees in the neighborhood are all changing colors for fall.

As soon as I got the groceries put away, I figured it was time to get dinner started.

After getting dinner going I ran out to pick up some kiddos. Ben rides the bus home so he came home right after I got back with the girls.

Tuesday evenings are typically Rylie's soccer practice days. This is their last week for soccer so Rylie's team earned a pizza party and got their medals after a quick 30 minute practice.

My friend Lisa got a couple pictures of the team eating their pizzas and sent them to me.

These super cute girls are quite the team. They've had an amazing season and have made me rethink what happens with Rylie's soccer next year. I don't know what we will do with that, and we have one more season before we have to make any decisions.

Since they had pizza, the kids weren't really hungry for dinner. Ben was my only kiddo that ate dinner, but while we ate, the girls did math and drawing at the table.

And of course, before bed was time for a little homework.

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
