Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
It's been nice and warm, but the wind has been crazy and a tad chilly.
Things that make me happy:
Spending time outside.

Book I'm reading:
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
I've really only ready about 2 pages since last week.

What's on my TV today:
I'm honestly not sure.  Usually I watch last nights TV from my DVR, but I watched my shows last night.  Tonight, new Secret life of the American Teenager, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Bethenny Ever After.

On the menu for dinner:
Egg Sandwiches on homemade bread.

On my To Do List:
Vacuuming
Sweeping
Dusting
Baking bread
Dishes
Laundry
Baking muffins
I have a long to do list today... and I'm stalling on getting started.  It's just so cold in this house that I'm happier snuggled up on my couch in front of the TV in a fleece blanket.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
There are so many that I'm looking to try but nothing specific I can think of off the top of my head.

In the craft basket:
Well, I need to sand down the metal rack that's next to our bed and the one that is over the toilet in the bathroom so I can paint them.  Exciting stuff, I know.  After this, I'm hoping to stain the kids dresser and find new knobs for it.  Hopefully I can get to some part of this, this week.

Looking forward to this week:
Getting ready for Easter.  Egg dying among lots of other fun activities.

Tips and Tricks:
If your shower curtain liner is moldy or mildewy, instead of throwing it away and buying a new one, throw it in the washer with some towels.  The towels will help to scrub it clean.  Hang it up to dry.

My favorite blog post this week:
Nerdy Apple Bottom - I beg to differ  She has no problem saying how she feels and I admire that.  This specific post, she talks on a subject that has recently been all over the news because of a J Crew ad that has caused quite a stir.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:
This is always a hard question for me.  I know there are life lessons I learn everyday.  Many actually, but to recall them is difficult.  I guess the latest one that I can think of is that there will always be people waiting for you to fail.  Don't give them the satisfaction because when you succeed instead of failing, you'll find there are also people cheering you on you may not have known about.

On my mind:
Right now I'm thinking about all of my housework and how I need to get up and get motivated, but I'm so warm right here.  If I get it all done, I'll feel much better though.  I always feel wonderful when my house is clean.

Blogmas 2014 - Day 8 What Is On Your Wish List This Year

Oh my goodness, I'm really pretty easy to buy for.  I have pretty much everything a girl could want.  I mean of course I have a few things but I'm not really counting on anything because I already got a huge gift of the new car. I really love scarves, especially infinity scarves right now.  I'm beyond obsessed.   Fun gadgets, appliances, etc for my kitchen are always a win for me as well as cookbooks and decorations.  I'm so into all of it, and it's the best go to gift idea for me. A nice pair of rain boots or wellies.  I just bought some for all of my kids for Christmas, and I've been dying for my own for years. Vera Bradley!  I'm so in love with Vera Bradley.  I'd like a bigger purse, as well as a library tote bag. And honestly I've not asked for any of even these things because what I want more than anything else in the world, is our own house.  I want to buy a house for my kids to grow up in an...

Blogmas 2014- Day 1 Favorite Christmas Tradition

This year, I'm participating in Sandra's, at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, Blogmas 2014.  If you want to join in, you can go over to her post, by clicking here , and see what it's all about.   When I was a kid, growing up, we never had fake trees.  I loved everything about them. The smell, the way they looked, and even more so, the going out as a family in the cold.  It was always a hunt whether at a tree far or a parking lot full of precut trees.  When I was younger it was the parking lot.  There was a place about a mile from our house that we would drive to.  We'd walk through tons of trees leaning against walls and fences.  My dad would hold each one up, shaking them a little bit and asking what we thought.  We all got to be involved in finding the perfect tree.  As we got older, we started going to tree farms instead of the parking lot.  We'd get a sled and a saw and walk between aisles and aisles in fields, full of gorgeou...
