Happy Homemaker Monday

Oh my goodness!  It's Monday morning and I'm here, doing my Happy Homemaker Monday post.  I haven't been able to do it lately.  Maybe this is a sign of things slowing down.

The Weather:::

We're warming back up into the 80s but it's supposed to be cooler by the end of the week.

Right now I am:

Wearing my pjs and listening to Rylie just talk and talk and talk.

Thinking:

I have so much housework to do.  Mondays are always the worst because, usually, we have been gone all weekend and haven't had time to do any house upkeep.

On my reading pile:::

I seem to have put all my reading aside except for the Bible.  I have plenty of reading to do there, but this week I'm hoping to read some more Grimm fairy tales and actually get into One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

On my tv:::

I'm not really sure.  Maybe a movie or a good British series

On the menu for this week:::

Monday - Bacon Spaghetti

Tuesday - Cheesy Chicken Soup
Wednesday - Potato Broccoli Egg Casserole
Thursday - Crockpot Ham and Potato soup
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::

Laundry
Bathrooms
Vacuum
Dishes

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::

I'm finishing up my fireplace banner thing, and hoping to start some Christmas gifts.  Also I need to work on Shawn and I's Halloween costumes.

Homemaking Tips:::

I wish I had some amazing tip or trick this week but I do not.  I will work on it though.

Looking around the house:::

Shawn is working upstairs.  The big kids are getting along and watching cartoons in their room.  There is so much work for me to do in this house that I'm a little stressed out.  Rylie is falling asleep in her bouncy chair by my feet.

From the camera:::

On my prayer list:::

My husband and I as we prepare for more potential changes for our family.  My brother in law and his girlfriend as they go through the growing pains of moving in together and starting a family as well as the scary things going on with her pregnancy.

Bible verse, Devotional:::

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs at the days to come.
Proverbs 31:25

Whitney - Thank you. I thought that scripture was pretty fitting and I'm glad it was for you as well. I'm very familiar with laugh or cry situations. Usually I try very hard to laugh, but I do my fair share of crying too. Haha! I don't know many people that actually get to rest on the weekends. Not people with children anyway. It's almost like your weekend. Thank you for enjoying my blog. I've been reading and enjoying your blog all morning. :)

Tina - Thank you. I love cooking and I usually cook homestyle type meals. I do love mums and just flowers in general, but the fall is my favorite season for the changing leaves and the beautiful mums. My sister-in-law loaned me her Grimms book, so I've been reading a story here and there. I loved Grimm but quit watching it after the first couple of episodes, I'm not sure why. Maybe I'll have to see if they are on Netflix.

Have a wonderful week ladies.

Sometimes we all fall behind on housework, it just is what it is. But I've noticed that if I don't let it get me down, I'll eventually catch up with it all in due time.

Love your menu, I'm with Tina, it's my kind of food LOL

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
