Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
Yesterday it was 90 degrees, today it's much cooler, but still comfortable.

Things that make me happy:
Snuggling with my babies.

Book I'm reading:
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
I haven't gotten much reading done in the past few weeks.

What's on my TV today:
I have to catch up on some shows from this weekend.  The Real Housewives of Orange County and Sister wives to be specific.

On the menu for dinner:
Maybe Taco Soup.  I haven't gotten to the grocery store yet and don't think I'll be going today either.

On my To Do List:

Laundry
Make the beds
Floors
Glass
Dusting

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:

General Tso's Sauce - It's extremely spicy!  We grilled some chicken and made some lightly steamed veggies and rice and drizzled the sauce over the top.

In the craft basket:
Nothing really, but I do have some DIY projects.

Looking forward to this week:
Playing outside with the kiddos.

Tips and Tricks:
When looking for what apps you need on your phone, google "What apps should I have for and android phone" or iphone.  You'll be amazed at how easy some of these apps can make your life.  Especially since some of them, you may not have even thought of.

My favorite blog post this week:
I unfortunately don't have one this week.  I've gotten behind on my blogging.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:
Sometimes, it's ok to push your children out of their comfort zone.  Ben has been riding in the same car seat since he was 9 or 10 months old.  Sydney was in desperate need of that car seat and he was really too big for it.  He was terrified of his booster seat.  By terrified, I mean screaming and crying and getting sick to his stomach at just the mention of trying the seat.  This weekend we decided to just bite the bullet and push him into it.  I had to hold his hand, the first 2 trips and then after that, it's been easy sailing.  Sometimes you have to push them into doing things they don't want to do if it will benefit them.

On my mind:
Family time!  We had so much fun yesterday just spending the day together as a family.  We need to do it more.

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
