Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather.....
It appears that Spring has sprung...  Some nice spring storms and mostly warmer weather.

Right now I am....
Sitting outside at the table on the front porch while the kids run and play or stop to eat their snacks.

Thinking....
Ugh Monday... Mondays always seem to be the worst days for me.

On my reading pile....
Starting a new one that I picked up last week at one of my favorite stores, Brits.  Jane Austen:  Her Life And Letters by William Austen-Leigh and  Richard Arthur Austen-Leigh

On my TV.....
Everything from my DVR since we are switching cable providers and will be losing our current DVRs on Wednesday.
Also, Call The Midwife, The Bible and Season 3 of Downton Abbey

Blog hopping (newly discovered blog)....
I don't currently have anything but I hope to soon.

On the menu for this week....

I don't really have a menu plan at the moment.  Shawn started a diet full of prepackaged meals and it's thrown my current plan into disarray.

Monday:  Hamburger steaks with sweet onion brown gravy, mashed potatoes and lots of veggies.
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday:
Saturday:
Sunday:

On my to do list....
Laundry
Dishes
Floors
Bathrooms
Clean up bedroom+

In the craft basket....
A couple of bright and spring-y dish cloths.

Looking forward to this week....
Getting rid of this internet that never works and getting service that hopefully will.

Looking around the house....
The kitchen floor is sticky, and I'm not sure why.  There are dishes in the sink, needing to be washed, and laundry taking over the hallway and upstairs landing.  The kid's playroom is completely littered with toys and it's driving me a little mad.  I know two kids who are going to be doing some picking up today while I get my stuff done.

From the camera....

On my prayer list.....
Old friend's of my husband and his family as they mourn the loss of their son.

Bible verse, Devotional....
I am with you and will protect you wherever you go, and bring you back to this land.  I will never leave you until I have done what I promised you. ~ Genesis 28:15

Now that looks like a book I would enjoy :)

I don't know how I would do if I wasn't able to cook the usual food LOL I would probably go nuts.

Praying for your husband's friends, that is just awful :(

We have this amazing little store here called Brits. It's full of Doctor Who, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Royal family, and really just tons of amazing British things. It's where I got the book. They have so many things I want in there.

My husband started a weightless study that is prepackaged meals, and shakes and all the fruits and veggies he wants but on 60 calories a day for condiments like salad dressing, BBQ sauce, etc. It makes me not want to cook a bunch of things he can't have all the time, because I don't feel we are supporting him eating that in front of him. I'm sure you understand.

I would go nuts in that store, well, me and Jasmine LOL

That's the hardest, and I get what you're saying because when my husband is getting ready for his PT tests, he cuts out a lot of things and goes on a strict diet and I find myself not cooking all the usual stuff because I feel bad and don't want to eat it in front of him LOL

Good luck, hope it goes well for your hubby :)

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
