Happy Homemaker Monday

happyhomemakermonday

The weather.....

A little warmer this week than the past couple weeks but still incredibly nice for August.

Right now I am....
Laying on the couch while the girls eat dry cereal out of plastic baggies.  Ben is at school.

Thinking....
I'm exhausted and I don't understand why Rylie won't sleep at night.

On my reading pile....
Right now, I'm flying through Eleanor by Kristiana Gregory.  I bought a few of the children's historical fiction books and I'm loving them.  I like the innocence you get when reading a children's chapter book.  It's not all sex and such.  There has to be an actual story line.

On my TV.....
Right now, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and later I'm hoping to watch Sister Wives and Breaking Amish LA

On the menu for this week....

Monday - Savory Beef and Noodles
Tuesday -  Chicken Tacos
Wednesday - Southern Style Pork Chops
Thursday - Cheesy Chicken Soup and bread
Friday - Hamburger Steaks with Sweet Onion Brown Gravy
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list....
Laundry
Dishes
Cleaning the kitchen
Floors

In the craft basket....
I haven't had a chance to work on anything lately.

Looking forward to this week....
I'm not really sure.  I'm just hoping to get through this week as it is Ben's first full week of school.

Looking around the house....
The house is pretty messy.  I have my work cut out for me today.  Sydney is on the couch, snuggling the kitty, watching Teen Beach Movie on her iPad.  Rylie is running all over the living room throwing dry cereal everywhere.

From the camera....
I have a couple of pictures this week, because I couldn't decide which one to post.

On my prayer list.....
My son as he goes to school this week for his first full week of all day school.

Bible verse, Devotional....
Loyalty will spring up from the earth, and Justice will lean down from heaven. ~ Psalms 85:11

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
