Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Homemaker Monday

The Weather:::
Nice and cold I suppose.

Right now I am:
Sitting on the couch listening to the kids on their iPads.

Thinking:
How sad I am that my sweet Petty will no longer be with us after today.

On my reading pile:::
Widow of Larkspur Inn and Little House in the big woods.

On my tv:::
I have so much to catch up on.

Downton Abbey season 3
Ripper Street (I'm trying to talk the husband into buying the blu ray)
Bates Hotel
The Bible

Favorite Blog post this week (mine or other):::

Diary of a Stay at Home Mom - When I was younger  I loved this post!  It's so neat to hear about other people's pasts, especially when they are so different from my own.

Something fun to share:::

I was looking around online and found this really neat blog.  The Farmer's Wife.  She posts recipes and all about farm life.
On the menu for this week:::

Monday - Taco Soup
Tuesday - BBQ Pork chops, potatoes
Wednesday - Husband's Delight
Thursday -  Roasted chicken breasts and veggies
Friday -
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::

Laundry
Dishes

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I've got nothing at the moment.  I'm wanting to do some Easter decorations but I'm not sure what I want to do.

Homemaking Tips:::
I don't have any tips or tricks that I can think of today.

Looking around the house:::
The house is mostly clean except for a few pillows on the living room floor.  The girls are watching Good Luck Charlie and Ben is setting up his angry birds game on the couch.  It's loud and crazy here but it's a house full of kids and that makes me happy.

From the camera:::
My kiddos all dressed in green for St. Patrick's Day yesterday.

On my prayer list:::
My kids as they go through the loss of their first pet.
Petty, as she enters kitty heaven.
My friend Sandra and her family as her husband takes an important test today that will determine their future.
My cousin Molly as she heals from the loss of her husband.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
This was a reading from yesterday at mass and I really liked it.

John 8:1-11
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area,
and all the people started coming to him,
and he sat down and taught them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman
who had been caught in adultery
and made her stand in the middle.
They said to him,
“Teacher, this woman was caught
in the very act of committing adultery.
Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.
So what do you say?”
They said this to test him,
so that they could have some charge to bring against him.
Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger.
But when they continued asking him,
he straightened up and said to them,
“Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.
And in response, they went away one by one,
beginning with the elders.
So he was left alone with the woman before him.
Then Jesus straightened up and said to her,
“Woman, where are they?
Has no one condemned you?”
She replied, “No one, sir.”
Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you.
Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”

Thank you for the prayers Liz. It's definitely hard when you don't know what is going on and thinking that if things don't go a certain way, we will be packing a house and moving in TWO MONTHS. Oh my. LOL

Hope you are having a good Tuesday so far.

Much love to you,
Sandra

Potato Soup

During Lent this last spring, I needed a meat free dinner to feed my sister-in-law and her family. Usually my potato soup has lots of bacon and bacon grease in it. I found this recipe here .This one is meatless, but it is important to add that it is NOT dairy free. There are adjustments you can do to make it dairy free though. It’s quick and was really well liked.  Potato Soup 6-8 cups russet potatoes, peeled and chopped 1 yellow onion, diced 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 clove garlic 4 cups vegetable stock 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded 1/2 cup sour cream or cream 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper Pinch red pepper flakes 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once hot and melted together add the onions and celery. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the potatoes and minced garlic to the pot and continue to sauté all of the ingredients for about 5 minutes. Add vegetable stock and increase th
